I went through four cans of cheap spray paint before I figured out which ones bond to brass and don't chip off when you open a drawer. These are the survivors.

Skipping primer is why my first attempt peeled off in two weeks. Learned that lesson the expensive way so you don't have to.

The difference between a paint job that chips in a week and one that lasts years comes down to five minutes of prep. I was lazy at first and paid for it.

First time around I just yanked all the pulls off and threw them in a bucket. Then spent an hour figuring out which screw went where. Never again.

Holding hardware in your hand and spraying it is how you get paint on your fingers and drips on your pulls. I figured out better methods after ruining my first batch.

Sometimes the old pulls are dented, bent, or just not worth saving. A few of mine were so corroded under the brass plating that starting fresh made more sense.

Paint alone will eventually wear on hardware you touch twenty times a day. A clear topcoat is the difference between a finish that lasts six months and one that lasts six years.
