The story really has held up well over the years!
Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus (1831) NOVEL by: Mary ...
Classic story that everyone knows! I never realized how close the Muppets movie version followed the original story! 😂
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
Outdoor Adventure
The first John Krakauer book I read. Both inspiring and tragic.
Into the Wild: Jon Krakauer: 9780385486804
This was a part of my Mt. Everest book phase. Amazing first hand account of the 1996 tragedy that claimed 8 lives. One of the deadliest years on the mountain. Controversial when it was released, but later made into a movie.
Into Thin Air: Personal Mt. Everest Account
Did two Englishmen conquer Mt. Everest 29 years before Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay? This book recounts the tragic attempt of George Mallory and Sandy Irvine in 1924.
Into the Silence: The Great War & Everest
Science Fiction
Classified as sci-fi, this book is a light, quick and humorous read.
Starter Villain by John Scalzi
Historical Fiction
A WWII historical fiction story that feels very real.
All the Light We Cannot See: A Novel
This book was given to me as a gift and it was a great read.
The Book Thief: Zusak, Markus: 9780375842207
Autobiography \ Biography \ Memoir
I personally found this book very inspiring. It is a diary of one man’s move to live his Alaska dream. Using what was available to him, Dick Proenneke built a cabin in a remote part of Alaska at age 51 and continued to live there for nearly 30 years.
One Man's Wilderness: An Alaskan Odyssey
A story of determination and perseverance that still inspires. The bee keeper from New Zealand who reached the top of the world.
View from the Summit: Memoir of First Conqueror
The firsthand account of 4 years in the life of frontiersman Zenas Leonard during the first half of the 1800’s.
Adventures of a Mountain Man
This is how I would imagine me hiking the AT would start out 😂
It is a fun story that shows personal growth through trying situations.
A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America
Short Stories
Van life meets unresolved family conflict. What could possibly go wrong?
This Van Could Be Your Life by Mishka Shubaly
A funny short story and probably describes me more than I’m comfortable with.
The Answer Is No: A Short Story eBook
A short story about a son, his terminally ill father, and a bear.
There's a Bear in the House! , Kirn, Walter
Sometimes jumping into something blindly works out for the best.
Cabin: Off the Grid Adventures with a Clueless Craftsman
Fantasy
One of my favorite books of all times!
The Hobbit - J. R. R. Tolkien: Books
Although I saw (and loved) the first two movies before reading the book, I can actually say the books are totally worth reading no matter how well you know the story.
Lord Of The Rings Books
Fiction
Without a doubt, my favorite Tom Clancy book!
The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy, Paperback
I thought the book was so much better than the movie
Clear and Present Danger by Tom Clancy, Paperback
History
A short book about Hitlers war against the press. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it!
