When it comes to food we do a lot of research when visiting a new city or country. Porto has been on our list for a long time and not only because of its architecture and must see mosaics but most importantly the food and port scene there. We rounded...
One of the most popular restaurants in Porto and for a reason. Bacalhau is the most famous Portuguese dish - salted cod. This restaurant specialises is in and the food is fresh, perfectly seasoned and presented on a plate. Love that they have a small...
Bacalhau
We understand that you're not visiting Porto to eat burgers but this place blew our mind. Not only the burgers are absolutely epic, service is out of this world and their cocktails are a must! No wonder it has 4.9 out of 5 and over 2000 reviews!
Holy Sandwich Shop
Located a little bit further along the river, this is another restaurant that serves the famous bacalhau. Honestly they are both great restaurants which is why we pout them on top of our list.
Muro do Bacalhau
Ok, this place completely ruined us! We won't be able to eat those delicious pastries anywhere else. They serve here the most delicious Pastel de Nata we've even had. We tried few other places in Porto but kept coming back to Castro.
Castro Atelier de Pastéis de Nata
This family run restaurant is a hidden gem. We love finding those as the food is usually more authentic and much cheaper than in the popular spots. This doesn't mean it is less delicious. Definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner when explo...
A Grade
An institution in making Pasta de Nata. They are delicious, however we preferred the ones from Castro. For us the custard was tastier there but it all depends on preferences so try both and let us know which one is your favourite.
Manteigaria
Another great brunch spot to fuel your body before a day of exploring Porto and its gems. Make sure you try Romanian pancakes! They are divine!
Story | Brunch & Cocktails
Cosy and atmospheric restaurant that serves incredible food and cocktails. Make sure you leave a room for dessert at their Sticky Toffee Pudding is a must.
The Door
If you enjoy brunches more than breakfasts this place is your go to. Great menu, lots of choices and delicious coffee. We promise you won't leave hungry!
CA Downtown Porto
Another local restaurant and a hidden gem. Located next to a great views[point over the famous Luis I Bridge, this small family owned restaurant is known for their BBQ seafood. Try sardines or stew. You will not be dissapointed.
A Tasquinha dos Guindais
Located in a popular Ribeira Square this restaurant is famous for its seafood dishes and traditional Portuguese Francesinha. Definitely a must stop if you're interested in both.
Ribeira Square Restaurant
Great food, views and huge portions! We got there super hungry so ordered a starter and mains. We were already full after the starter. The food was lovely and the service amazing. This restaurant is on the Gaia area of Porto.
Bacalhoerio Restaurant
This is another hidden gem. Located near famous Sao Bento train station this local restaurant serves no frills delicious and hearty food. This small but welcoming restaurant is perfect to grab a food before chatching your train.
O Rápido Restaurant
Very popular restaurant so make sure you book in advance or you will have to queue a while. You'll find here fresh seafood dishes and amazing atmosphere.
Postigo do Carvão
Delicious brunch and breakfast. The portions are quite big so make sure you have room for all the food. You might have to wait to get a table but it is worth it.
