I found myself spending $60-$90 every month on getting my nails done. as a girl who’s on a debt payoff journey, I decided to cut that expense out and start doing my nails at home. these are the products that I found to be the most long lasting and re...
first thing first, remove your old crust nail polish. i lowkey feel like this acetone is the best.
STEP 1: ONYX Brands Pure Acetone Nail Polish Remover
next thing to do is add your cuticle remover to help remove dead skin! i asked google’ “ what does cuticle remover do for your nails?” and google said: “A cuticle remover is a cosmetic product that softens and dissolves dead, dry skin from the cuticl...
STEP 2: Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover
i’ve tried using wooden cuticle pushers but i feel like the metal ones are better.
STEP 3: Olive & June Manicure Cuticle Pusher
once i push my cuticles back i will nip DEAD skin only. this tool is kinda tricky until you figure it out and there’s def a learning curve.
i like to use the heavy duty file since i have thick nails and it shapes them quicker. i typically opt for round/almond nail shape.
STEP 5: Shape the nails!
i follow up step 5 with these fine file bc i feel like it’s softens the edges a lil more.
STEP 6: Round the rough edges (pt. 2) using Trim Fine & Light Fine Pink Salon Boards
this part does take quite a bit of time bc you buff each nail 4x. it’s very tedious but well worth it.
STEP 7: buff those nails girls!!!
next we want to make sure there’s no oil or residue/debris left before we start painting 😈
STEP 8: get rid of the debris
now the real fun begins! start painting girls. i picked this brand for the base coat because when i would get my nails done at the salon (not gel manicure) the nail salons always use this so i figured it must be good!
STEP 9: OPI Nail Base Coat
i’m obsessed with this color! i always get soooo many compliments and it gives elevated natural nails.
STEP 10: apply essie Gel Couture Nail Polish - Sheer Fantasy
now let’s lock it in and apply the top coat!
STEP 11: apply essie Gel Couture clear nail polish top coat
this is literally my favorite step! this step is what elevates the whole process and makes you feel like you just went to the salon.
