items Wisconsin is know for its beer, brats and cheese curds. But if you look hard enough there are a handful of acceptable Asian restaurants that offset the drive to Chicago. Here is my curated list.

Opened in 2026, legit hand pulled noodles with more of a Sichuan type flavor. Noodle texture is great. XLB well received by kiddos. Spicy chicken appetizer (koushuiji) quite lovely.
Kung Fu Noodle House
Lunch menu is fantastic. Pad see ewe is my go to. More authentic than your run of the mill Thai place. Great service every time.
Mom's Kitchen Waukesha
Go very hungry. Very solid Korean BBQ with wide variety of dishes and instant ramen bar included (but why waste room when you have unlimited meat?). Beware of sticky floors and wear only machine washable clothes as with any respectable Korean bbq.
바위 Bawi Korean BBQ Mequon
The only Cantonese dim sum place I will go to in WI (not that there is much choice). All the classic dishes (har gow, siu mai, congee etc), good fresh vegetable stir fries as well.
Nani
A solid bowl of ramen. Noodles are appropriately fresh and chewy, broths are amazing. Tried many variations and all are good. Appetizers are so-so, stick with the ramen.

Rice noodles in a variety of soups and topics. Counter ordering and they bring to your table. Love that it is no frills, yet delivers high quality and differentiated noodles.
Laojiu Rice Noodles
No frills noodle shop on State Street. If I went to school here, I'd be here every week.
Ruyi Hand Pulled Noodle
Best boba in Milwaukee. Consistent quality of the drinks makes us regulars. Love the Korean style fried chicken. Secret spicy sauce is so good. On nice days, you can take it out to eat on the benches around the corner (sticky fingers and all).
TSAôCAA 朝茶 | East Side, Milwaukee
XLB are juicy and large. Nice selection of sweet buns (custard and sesame balls) for the littles. Pan fried buns are also fabulous.
Serious Sanji| Dumpling & Dim Sum & Bubble Tea
Super rich, authentic flavors. Not your run of the mill Thai restaurant. Go when you are feeling like you want to try something that will bring spice and life to your day.
Monsoon Siam
Lovely family restaurant that feels slightly upscale. Noodle textures are on point wth a variety of shapes. Try the cat ears. Oddly chopsticks are not offered until you ask, which is odd for a Chinese restaurant. Noodles make up for it, though.
Taigu Noodles
Food court and grocery store for all your Asian shopping needs. Great variety of food options for Madison.
Global Market and Food Hall
Box lunches are easy and made with love. I stop by here usually at odd hours when I just want solid rice based meal. Flavors always on point. Located in a food court inside an apartment building.
