Looking for something quick and tasty on the go in the CLE? Here are a few of my favorite spots, mostly West Side-centric.
When they’re out, they’re out. Call in advance!
Herb'n Twine (Ohio City)
Everything is vegan. Get the Bravocado.
Beet Jar (Hingetown)
The Papa Tony is a work of art.
Tripi Italian Specialties (Ohio City)
Whatever sandwich you go with, don’t forget about the fries. Get a sauce sampler.
Little Cloud (Hingetown)
The owners are both James Beard nominated. Get the fried chicken sandwich and a black-and-white cookie.
Larder Delicatessen & Bakery (Hingetown)
Classic Jewish deli. So. Much. Pastrami.
Slyman's Deli (Midtown)
You haven’t had a biscuit until you’ve had one of Shawnda’s biscuits.
The Roaming Biscuit (Hingetown)
Square egg patties. The best breakfast sandwiches you’ve had in a while — maybe ever.
Martha on the Fly (Tremont)
The longest menu. SO many options.
La Bodega (Tremont)
Delicious grab-and-go. Menu of four sandwiches rotated daily; menu on their Instagram. Great soups, salads and market items, too!
Gingham Market (West Lakewood)
When you want a bagel sandwich, this is the spot. Add a schmear! I love the Cheddar Chive.
Cleveland Bagel Co. (Multiple Locations)
Classic sandwiches, done right. Lots of options to choose from.
TOST: a sandwich cafe (Tremont)
A classic deli done right. Family-friendly.
Nate's Deli (Fairview Park)
No fresher place to get meat than from the butcher shop itself!
TJ’s Butcher Block (Lakewood)
Good sandwiches don’t need meat! Despite the name, this spot is fully vegan — and delicious.
Black Market Meats (Lakewood)
Look, this is in Akron, which is decidedly not Cleveland. But the subs here are so good and so iconic that I could not possibly leave it off the list.
Mr. Zub's Deli & Bar (Highland Square)
Big ole bagel sandwiches. Come hungry!
Cocky's Bagels
