A few of my family’s favorite free activities in the Bismarck area.
The ND Heritage Center is free to visit and our kids always enjoy visiting. Don’t forget to stop into the treehouse play area!
North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum
When the weather is gross but we want to get out, we enjoy walking the mall and visiting various stores. We’ll always make a stop for Auntie Anne’s pretzels!
Kirkwood Mall
Take your kids to see the art alley – all artwork created by local artists!
Bismarck Art Alley
Story time at the library is free and engaging for most ages!

This is such a fun park to visit with your kids. There’s even a splash pad in the summer!
New Generations Park
This is a fun spot to visit in the summer. There’s sandy beach play area with water deep enough to wade in, or you can rent kayaks and paddle boats to further your adventure!

One of my family’s all time favorite activities! We opt for the annual membership, making this a one time cost for the entire calendar year.
Dakota Zoo
We always have a blast at Midway Lanes! They even have ramps for the littles to get involved.

On a normal day, Sky Zone is expensive, but you can often find coupons for buy one get one free admission!
Sky Zone Trampoline Park
In the summer, our kids love going to Raging Rivers! We enjoy the lazy river and kids play area, but there’s large slides as well for those adventurous enough to try them!
Raging Rivers Waterpark
For a fun summer activity, check out the amusement park. Admission is free and tickets are reasonably priced!
Super Slide Amusement Park
Located a short drive from Bismarck is Dakota Cat Cafe – take your kids for a smoothie and watch the cats play, or you can book a time slot to visit the cats. They’re even available for adoption if you’re looking to add a furry friend to your family!

If you haven’t visited Papa’s Pumpkin Patch in the fall, you’re truly missing out. This is one of our family’s favorite fall activities. There’s so many things to see and do, it’s completely worth the drive and admission!
