Some of my favorite books that were made into movies (and what I thought)
One of my favorite books, and even though I also enjoy the movie - there are so many things I wish were included.
Memoirs of a Geisha: A Novel by Golden
Love these separately - I actually read the book after the movie. Book has so much more to it but Hilary Swanks acting is so good in the movie. Highly recommend the book if you loved the movie!
PS, I Love You: Ahern, Cecelia: 9780786890934
One of my favorite books - so much left out in the movie. I love these two separately but still haven’t watched the show.
The Time Traveler's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger
A MUST read - the movie doesn’t even come close. I sob every time I read this book, and it is so dark and sad and leaves you wanting more.
The Lovely Bones: Alice Sebold - Books
The movie did not do this book justice… and to truly tap into what makes this book so wonderful and dark at times (especially with Mary wondering what her sister was thinking/doing and what lengths she would go to. The movie barely scratches the surf...
The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory
This book was insane - saw the movie first - which again, insane. There’s a lot of controversy over what’s embellished and what’s true, but this story makes you itchy and uncomfortable but you can’t put it down.
Running with Scissors: A Memoir by Burroughs
I know, I know. The movie was adapted from the musical. And I have seen the musical multiple times. But this book is so weird and so good and there’s a lot more to this story
Wicked: Life and Times of the Wicked Witch
Each time it's remade every one has so much to say… love the book - loved it when i was younger, love it more as an adult. And unpopular opinion - i LOVED the recent remake
