This is a classic story collection. They're an easy read for early readers.
Frog and Toad: The Complete Collection
Babies
This is our absolute favorite book. It is so sweet and put into words early on exactly how I felt about my newborn. There's also a space in the front to write personal details about the baby that they can read for years to come.

These recommendations are good for big kids 4+ who like to read to themselves or don't need as many images when being read to.
My early reader loves these classic books. We have this complete set. They're great for your emerging reader to read alone or for parents to read to the child. There aren't many pictures and they are lengthier stories so I would suggest this for kids...
