Sci-Fi
A beautiful story about the importance and difficulties of communication
Arrival (2016)
Often referred to as one of the best sequels ever made; I couldn’t agree more
Aliens (1986)
The original Star Wars trilogy is all great. This one gets panned but in my opinion has some of the best moments in the story
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)
A childhood favourite. They don’t make family movies this weird these days. Spielberg
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
One of my all-time favourite movies!
The Matrix (1999)
Horror
This movie stuck in my head for weeks. Haunting.
Hereditary (2018)
Visually stunning, disturbing and fun!
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)
Bold and great.
The Substance (2024)
An excellent film - horrifying, period piece with accurate dialogue and incredible performances
The Witch (2015)
This movie is actually scary
Candyman (1992)
Comedy
Hilarious spoof of musical biopics…with pretty good original music
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007)
Still Adam Sandler’s funniest movie in my opinion
Billy Madison (1995)
This movie is not for those who are easily offended. With that in mind, it’s a wild trip with some fun celebrity cameos in their early careers
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
A childhood favourite. Speaks for itself
Ghostbusters (1984)
Very tongue-in-cheek. Also very funny
This Is the End (2013)
Animated
An excellent movie! The animation is stunning!
The Wild Robot (2024)
One of the few movies that ever actually made me cry
Coco (2017)
One of Disney’s best. The first animated movie to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars - and rightfully so!
Beauty and the Beast (1991)
Just an all around very good movie in
How to Train Your Dragon (2010)
An underrated and under seen gem of a sci-fi action adventure
Titan A.E. (2000)
