I started sourdough about 2 months ago now. These are the items I've bought and loved - the things that are the most helpful and useful that I'd recommend to anyone who wants to get started making sourdough. It felt really overwhelming at first knowing what I needed!

My Essential Supplies
This is the bowl I first bought for breadmaking, and I love it. The only negative is it doesn't have measurements, so when I need that, I use my Cambro. This is much easier to scrap though since it's round. I use it for more than just sourdough of course - and it does come with the lid.
Extra Large Clear Glass Mixing Bowls 4.7Qt
This set is perfect for single or double loaves of bread. It's perfect so you don't have to wonder if your dough has doubled since you've got the measurements. The red lid one I have is 6 qt, but these 4 qt are usually all I need unless I'm doing huge batches.
Cambro 2-Pack 4QT Square Food Storage
When I started making my sourdough starter, I used a regular mason jar, which is fine, but it is so much harder to scrape down the sides! I switched over to this straight side jar and love it. It is super nice that it comes with the time band thing too, so you can mark and don't forget what time you fed.
Premium Pro 40oz Sourdough Starter Kit
We just recently got this bread slicer, and it is a total game changer. Honestly it's super annoying trying to slice sourdough with a knife because of the texture. I didn't think this would work as well as it does, but it makes perfect slices without any trouble, and you can adjust the thickness too.
Manual Bread Slicer Adjustable Thickness w/ Scale & Suction Cup
These reusable beeswax covers are really great for putting over dough bowls and any food. They have several different patterns/designs too. Much more ecofriendly than using the shower caps.
5-Size Reusable Beeswax Bowl Covers for Bread Proofing
I got this dutch oven for my sourdough baking and am obsessed! It is perfect. I got the blue and love it.
Overmont 5.5QT Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven
This is what I make my bread in. It's so nice to be able to see when your dough has doubled, and with a Cambro there isn't any guesswork since it's labeled.
Cambro 6SFSCW135 Camsquare 6-Qt Clear Container
This author wrote the sourdough bread recipe that led me to create my first successful loaf after 8 failed tries. Her recipes are so good, and she explains well.

If you have an aesthetic kitchen, you may want the Weck jars because they are just so dang pretty! My kitchen is definitely not aesthetic, but I love these. They have the wide mouth and are spacious for lots of starter.
Weck Tulip 1L Jars - 2 Wide Mouth Glass Lids
This is the kit I got with a bunch of must haves. The bench scraper, dough whisk, and bannetons you will use over and over constantly.

This is the rice flour I use to flour my loaves for baking. It's super fine and silky.
52USA Thai Rice Flour 16oz, All Natural
If you haven't gotten in on the secret yet, shower caps make epic food covers. These are perfect for covering bowls of dough, and also for covering your loaves in the banneton when you put them in the fridge to cold proof.
200 Pcs Reusable Elastic Bowl Covers for Bread Proofing
These are the best bread bags - the tabs are awesome! I bought some other ones first, and they didn't have tabs which is annoying because then you have to use a bag clip.
Moretoes 120 Large Paper Bread Bags 13.7x8.3x3.5in
I'm in the process of switching over to all fabric beeswax bread bags so I don't use as many disposable ones. These are so pretty!!

This lame is retractable which is super nice for keeping it safe when scoring your sourdough loaves.

These are SO good! This recipe for ciabatta is super delish, but also the easiest sourdough recipe I've made so far. Definitely doubling it next time.

This is my favorite discard recipe yet. It's so flippin delicious!
Really cool low effort sourdough method - perfect for people who want to make sourdough, but don't have time (or desire) to do endless stretch and folds, etc.
Simple Sourdough for Lazy People
This french toast bread is NOT vegan, and I haven't tried veganizing it yet. The only thing would be the eggs, and I don't know how an egg replacer would work in this. But my non-vegan family thought it made heavenly french toast, and despite looking hard because of the braid, it's actually really easy and fun.
French Toast Bread
Hands down best way to use up a ton of sourdough discard when your containers are overflowing. Crispy crackers are always a great plan - they are super good with hummus.
