Tried my best to sort this into categories, but there’s lots of overlap because Austin is nothing if not a collection of coffee shop/bar/food truck park/event venues!

Still haven’t found any Thai food in Austin as good as Knoxville, but this comes pretty close.
Tuk Tuk Thai Cafe
One of the most truly Austin places left. Vegetarian restaurant that everyone I know enjoys. Great atmosphere.
Bouldin Creek Cafe
Definitely a special occasion place for me because it’s very fancy, but oh my god full vegan sushi menu 😍
Nori
I have spent countless Saturdays here doing trivia and enjoying the menu! Great smoothies and ciders and crazy French fry portions.
Cherrywood Coffeehouse
I don’t get over there often these days, but I loved this place in grad school! Both locations are good, although I prefer the standalone on Riverside because it’s roomier.
Taco Joint - Best Tacos - Austin, Texas
Huge portions for the price and lots of veggie options!
Super Thai Cuisine
Technically a chain, but extremely vegan-friendly and still pretty god value even though they raised their prices in the past couple of years. They just started outsourcing delivery, so I prefer pickup, but it’s a lot of food for the money either way...
They have a lot of locations, but are local to Texas and very special to Austinites due to their deliciousness and high-quality food. Chipotle who?
Cabo Bob's
Had so much fun doing Kowpoke Karaoke here!
Willie's Joint BAR and GRILL
Huge portions for the price. I’ll eat off the pho three times.
Pho Please
No one’s expecting a vegan to recommend a steakhouse. But they had so many vegan options at their unlimited sushi that I had to unbutton my pants. Hibachi too!
Kobe Japanese Steakhouse - Austin, TX
Real-deal Mexican food out of a truck. Alex’s favorite on Alex Eats It All. Banging torta.
Rosita's al Pastor - Authentic Mexican Food Truck in Austin, TX
An Austin staple that lives up to the hype! Delicious dairy-free Mexican vanilla.

They’re about to move, but they’ve been across from the flagship Whole Foods. So sad that I don’t have a CD player in my new car because their used CD collection was unmatched.
Waterloo Records & Video
I think they’re way overpriced, but the $1 and fill-a-bag sales are worth the trip.

Most well-known as home of Patrizi’s (famous for their pasta, which I hear is delicious, but I wasn’t a fan of the garlic bread or vegan salad unfortunately), but this is another great Austin beer garden with a performance space and lots of cool even...
