Here is my never ending and always added to list of Stuff I Bought For My 100 Year Old House. Lo... Because sometimes, home building is building steps along the way! …Sometimes literally!

These were such an incredible find! These are clear, rubber door knob stops for your walls. With period doors, they just slam into the walls if you aren't careful. Save your freshly painted walls! And they are clear, so easy not to notice at first gl...

I love these! I have half a dozen of them in the front closet that I mostly use for totes and hats, but they look great when not in use and are so functional

If you are like me and have a very tiny, slim place next to the front door, these shoe storage cabinets are PERFECT. Store the every day shoes, use it as a key and purse landing zone, and it can also collect mail, etc.  Mine is a catch-all table and quick going out shoe storage for me and guests.

I love to get unfinished wood furniture that I can then stain to better match the wood already in my home.  It's impossible to find just the right match normally, so this takes a lot of the frustration out of finding the perfect piece but its mismatched woods.

I love faux flowers.  I have a mix of a black thumb and a cat that loves to devour any plant I bring in the house, so I have a collection of faux plants and flowers. These silk baby's breath I have in a few colors, and I love to mix them and change them up with the change...

Get some colorful, cheap vases to go with your faux flowers.  Shopping in the second hand shops are best, but I sometimes grab colorful vases like these when they are on sale

This plug in crystal light is also a great addition to a dark front entrance area. I also put a smart bulb in the light so I can make either mood lighting or time it to turn on with other smart home sequences.

I have NO STORAGE in my bathroom besides under the sink,, so I got a lot of dark stained bamboo shelves through out.

Again, bamboo to help survive in the humdity, and dark to match the historic wood.

Everyone should have one of these under your sink. For emergency leak situations (me, I needed it for that) or when you need extra water storage for like say bathing a kiddo or pet. I've used this a SHOCKING amount

This is by far my fav vanity stool I've gotten myself!  I've bought a couple cheapos that broke over the years, and this guy has survived two moves, one cross country, and is still in great shape. Fits tucked away even in my tiny vanity space.

Replacing cabinet and drawer pulls are some of the easiest ways to make a place your own. I replaced the old, dingy dark bronze reproduction pulls in the bathroom with these to go with the (slow) updates to gold fixtures.

These go great with dark wood and darker fixtures - blend right in. I also have a weakness for any fleur style pieces, and I have these in bronze and gold.  Very heavy duty.

Home Improvement

When you buy an old house, there are going to be things you'll need to do to fix, replace, or just update to make work for “the now”.

Now, this is the less glamourous side of old homes:  keeping mold out of old basements.  You want to get yourself a dehumidifier that you can control from your anywhere in the house, and set it up that it can continuously drain.  Then, schedule it! You don't want it running all the time and running up your electric bill, but you'll want to make sure you don't get mold, or worse, MUSHROOMS.

This stuff is great for small, quick jobs. I used to to repair some uneven cracks in the basement floor, so they'll hold tight until a full basement redo.

Buy these hand over fist out of the start of college season!  These are the perfect thing for storing things in basements to prevent mold or other damage. I have a freaking collection of these. Buy once, use them to move, never buy another one in your life!
18gal Storage Tote

These are not as cute as other things I've bought.  But its a great temp solution until you build your own custom storage for all the storage totes you own.  It is helping me figure out what I want and, biggest, DON'T WANT in future storage.

I can not rave about these enough!  I've put them in EVERY closet of the house.  Old house = no lights in closets or basements.  These motion lights last a long time between recharges and stick on to a magnetic strip so you can easily take them down when they DO need a charge.  Get them - you will NOT regret these.

Yet more motion lights - I put these right around the laundry area in the basement along with the motion strip lights.  I've had them in a year and have yet to need to replace the batteries.  Perfect for sticking places that you don't want to revisit for battery replacement very often.

Living Room / Parlor

I have a 1920s parlor that leads directly into the dining room through a big archway. I blend the rooms together with similar themes!

I have an living room that leads directly into the parlor, so needed long curtains that fit both rooms and the period of the house. Love this entire brand - such high quality!

Trick for when you get period curtain rods and no modern curtain ring fits:  get extra large index card rings. Cheaper but made of stronger metal and go around the sometimes 3 inch rods!

This looks so much lighter in person, but I LOVE this thing. It isn't a cloud couch, but this thing is so sturdy and so easy to move around.  The seller is based out in Colorado, so might not be available for everyone. But no regrets buying this couch. So easy to keep clean and decorate.

I have a tendancy to buy up any on sale picture frames from Michaels and other stores when ever I can. Get you a coupon and just snatch them when you see them.  You WILL use them at random times.

This is where I get all of my prints done of posters or photos.  I download A LOT of free images from museums and other copyright free, digital art spaces.  Then, I get them printed when ever there is a sale (there is almost always a 50-60% off sale). Get a bunch done at the same time and slowly frame them out as I can buy up frames.

Master Bedroom

I wanted to make a period inspired bedroom for my 1920s house that was also a soft and warm place for me to relax.

This was such a huge expense, but IT IS SO WORTH IT. I got this for my new king bed, and it's modern without being TOO MUCH in a period space. Also, low to the ground for pets and small kiddos to get in and out of with easy without hurting themselves...

I originally bought this with the idea it would be a laundry basket, and romanticized my future laundry endeavors when I finally had in home laundry. Which, lol. Instead, it became a pretty basket full of blankets in my bedroom.  My cat sleeps in it, mostly, and totally worth the price for that.

Love this thing so much, I've bought it in multiple colors for different rooms. I use this as a nightstand / decor catch all place. But great place to hide all the charging plugs inside the drawer, and then have levels to place plants. I put my alarm... Just a great look for a sturdy piece.
