I'm an avid reader of all things from trashy Space Opera to Autobiographies. Here are some that I've enjoyed recently.

Space Opera SF
These often bear no relationship to anything to do with physics in our reality.
I'm a real fan of Michael, but I'm a cheapskate. I pretty much only buy bundles at $0.99. I find a single book doesn't last long enough, the bundles last me a week or so.
Lone Wolf Squadron Complete Series Boxed Set
Not really Space Opera, but just as fanciful. Jules Verne is the father of science fiction and as such you should read all his books. It's amazing how much he got right.
The Jules Verne Collection: 6 Classic Novels
This is space opera at it's best. The twists and turns will keep you as enthralled as I was.
Dead Men Don’t Die: Unkillable Marine Trilogy
A few more by Daniel Young. I've read them all. I really should get outside more.
Daniel Young: books, biography, latest update
You might find these a little different. Craig has tried to keep the story earthbound, but it does get a little OTT in places. I did enjoy them though.
Not Alone: Ultimate Sci-Fi Box Set 1-10
Detective series
There's nothing like a good mystery that needs solving.
These are great books, the series of movies made from them is pretty true to the books, which is rare.
Millennium Series by Stieg Larsson
I really loved these books. The descriptions of the dogs and the Scottish background were excellent.
