I live here, so this isn't tourist-brochure fluff — these are the places I actually go and the restaurants I actually eat at. Columbus has way more going on than people give it credit for, from gorgeous gardens to some of the best local food in Ohio....

places to visit
I could wander the rainforest biome and butterfly room for hours. It's beautiful in every season and the holiday lights are worth the hype.
FP Conservatory
Even as an adult I have the best time here — the exhibits are actually fun, not just for kids. Give yourself a full afternoon.
COSI
The Heart of Africa section alone is worth the trip. Go early, wear comfy shoes, and don't skip feeding the giraffes.
Columbus Zoo and Aquarium
My favorite way to do lunch downtown — just walk around and graze. The pierogies and the Jeni's stand are non-negotiable.
North Market
Just go wander — no agenda needed. The brick streets and old houses are so pretty, and you'll stumble into the cutest shops.
German Village Society
Gallery Hop is such a fun free night out — galleries open late, street performers, and the whole strip is buzzing. My favorite Columbus tradition.
Short North
Best free date-night walk in the city, especially at sunset. The fountain lights up at night and it's so pretty against the skyline.
The Promenade
The Sunday free admission makes this a no-brainer. It's the perfect size — big enough to explore, small enough to not wear you out.
Columbus Museum of Art
Set a timer or you'll lose three hours in here and love every minute of it. The discounts are real and the maze layout is half the fun.
Book Loft
The free tours are genuinely interesting and the building is stunning inside. Great quick stop if you're already downtown.
Ohio Statehouse
This place is so underrated and it's FREE. Pack a picnic, bring a book, and just sit in it — it feels like you're inside a painting.
Topiary Park
Even if you just go once, go — the inside is jaw-dropping. Broadway tours, the symphony, holiday shows, it's all good here.
Ohio Theatre

The Bahama Mama and a cream puff is the correct order, don't let anyone tell you different. It's touristy and I don't care — it's that good.
Schmidt Haus
This started HERE and I'm so proud of it. Brambleberry Crisp is my forever order but honestly you can't go wrong — they let you taste everything.
All Flavors
The veggie burger here will convert carnivores, I swear. Great brunch spot and the mint iced coffee is elite.
The North Star Cafe
This is my special-occasion spot — the patio in summer is unbeatable and the food never misses. Make a reservation, trust me.
Lindey's
If you want the fanciest night out in Columbus, this is it. The setting alone — a church with stained glass — is unforgettable.
Refectory Restaurant
Get there early because the cinnamon rolls sell out and you WILL be sad. The egg sandwich is the best breakfast sandwich in Columbus, fight me.
Fox in the Snow
Pancake balls. Filled with Nutella. That's the whole review. The whole place is covered in doodles and it's the happiest brunch in town.
Katalina's
This is my little slice of Paris in Columbus. The macarons are perfect and the almond croissant is the best I've had outside of France.
