Science
These curriculums teach science from a secular viewpoint, which can be hard to find in the homeschooling world!
We’ve just started this as our science curriculum this year and I am LOVING it! The booklist is amazing and I’m really excited for the labs we have coming up.
This has been a great supplementary book we use just for fun. The experiments are fairly easy and use things you already have. We’ve even had friends come over to do some of the experiments just for fun!
Outdoor Science Lab for Kids: 52 Experiments
This was a great foundation for our first year of homeschooling. When you incorporate the booklist, documentary recommendations, and some awesome field trips, this curriculum really gives a comprehensive look at the universe in a way that both my six...
Astronomy Level 1
History
Finding history homeschool curricula that isn’t taught from a Biblical worldview can be tricky, but we’ve loved these options!
This curriculum has been the meat of our studies! It incorporates so much! With tons of reading from various amazing selections, a hands-on activity every week, and links to explore, we ALL learned so much from this curriculum!
Early Times - History Quest
This is our current history curriculum and it’s formatted the same way as the Early Times curriculum, which we loved. I’ve already purchased the US History curriculum for next year- that’s how confident I feel using this product!
History Quest: Middle Times
ELAR
As a former English teacher and librarian, I’m VERY picky about our reading and writing choices. These are the options I would recommend so far!
I started my first grader out with this as a review before moving up the the first grade book. He loved the stickers aspect and it was a fun way to make sure he didn’t have any learning gaps as we continued his reading journey!
Get Reading with Phonics: Fun Learning for Young Readers
I used this as a supplement and loved that it covered everything from phonics and vocabulary to genres and grammar basics.
First Grade English Gargantuan Workbook for Learning Fun
I used this with my dyslexic child and it was PERFECT for her! We could approach it in bite-sized chunks that didn’t overwhelm or discourage her. The characters are fun and silly and make it engaging.
Fourth Grade English Humongous Workbook + 3 months free of Word Tag ®
I love the “We Both Read” series! There are so many titles within each level and it makes reading practice feel more natural. My early reader much prefers these over other phonics books (though we still incorporate those as well) and the topics are h...
We Both Read | Treasure Bay
We’ve used another Word a Day flip books from Mrs. Wordsmith, but this is our favorite! The extra information beyond the definition really helps the word stick. My kids love trying to incorporate the word of the day into our conversations.
Storytellers Word a Day for kids boosts vocabulary
Math
Is it exciting? Not exactly. It is clear and concise and made me, an English major, English teacher, and librarian, feel confident in teaching my fifth grader math. We did every lesson, but not every problem. Once I was confident he understood the co...
Saxon Math 6/5: Homeschool, 3rd Edition
Saxon 5/6 got the job done for my fifth grader last year, so we stuck with it for sixth grade. I’m loving that it starts with a review of some basic concepts instead of jumping into the deep end of algebra. It’s very approachable. Still not exciting ...
