I've been biking around the Bay Area for more than 10 years. Here's my setup for long training rides and races
Bikes
My steeds
My first road bike, and one of the first true aero frames ever made, around 2002. Aluminum body with carbon seat post and fork. Got me around SF for 10 years
Current race bike - light, fast, feels great
A special shout out to rental bikes - Just because you're going out for the night doesn't mean you have to take a car
Clothing
The clothing I have is mostly from OrNot, an SF brand that is climate neutral, USA made, well designed. You get what you pay for
Functional and colorful
I didn't wear cycling clothes for almost 10 years, but for training and longer rides it's a must
This jacket is so good. Just warm enough and if the sun comes out it folds up tiny to fit in your pocket
Supposedly a XC shoe instead of road biking but I love that it walks flat and is robust to water and mud
Accesories
The best repair kit pack, just big enough to fit everything I need
Took me a long time to finally get a bike computer and there's no going back, makes it easy to navigate new routes
A pretty obscure but necessary get. Canyon doesn't manufacture computer + headlight mounts, but this UK company 3D prints one with high quality
Worth it to have a good headlight when you get caught in the dark
Dual sided pedal, does the trick
Fuel
Gotta get those carbs
I prefer real food but for long rides these are great to have. I like the raspberry lemonade flavor
This drink mix turns into a “hydrogel” with a very interesting texture. I like it and it gives a lot of drinkable carbs for longer races
Unsure if I need the electrolytes but I love the taste and a little carbonation when riding
Misc

Brian at Paragon is extremely knowledgeable, and it's worth it to get a pro bike fitting if you're going to ride frequently
Strava free version is a must have, and the paid subscription has some worthy features like route planning and advanced analytics
