Taste: 3.5/5
Atmosphere: 4/5
Cost: $$$
Yum Cha Hours: Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm

Best dish: Siu mai, duck pancake, and chicken feet (but they didnt have beans :( )

Worst dish: Prawns in general were a bit tough, chicken spring rolls not to our taste, beans were really greasy, pork pie was a bit smelly. Chinese tea was too strong for some.

Unique Dish: Mango pudding, duck pancake (single serving, but really good)

Food Serving Style: Trolley-service but dishes are much more separated than I'm used to, especially the fried foods. We didnt think they had spring rolls because we only had the fried trolley without them until the end

Seating: On the highest floor of the Market City Shopping Centre accessible by lift or escalator, the dining area is massive and comfortable

My Comments: Busy but we were able to be seated right away, and they moved us to a nicer table before we had sat down without us asking. Super friendly and accommodating. One of the better service experiences I've had particularly with the extras sta...

Taste: 3/5
Atmosphere: 2/5
Cost: $$$
Yum Cha Hours: MON - SUN 11AM-3PM

Best dish: None honestly, everything we've had here meets the mark but there are also no stand-outs

Worst dish: None honestly, everything we've had here meets the mark but there are also no stand-outs

Unique Dish: There is a very large selection of dishes to choose from that you cant even narrow down to just one to talk about

Food Serving Style: Trolley service!

Seating: A level above the top-level foodcourt in the Westfield. It is a huge restaurant but it gets really busy so although you may not need to wait, you may be seated at a pretty small table if you have only 3 or less people. A bit squashy with the...

My Comments: This is a good option for work lunches but because of that I think it does feel a bit off. It wouldnt be my choice for a relaxing morning bite or family events as it's a bit hard to feel like it's an intimate space. Can be hard to get an...

Taste: 4/5, 4.5/5 on Fridays
Atmosphere: 3/5
Cost: $$
Yum Cha Hours: 10AM - 3PM

Best dish: Best siu mai/shumai/dim sum ever imo

Worst dish: zhialiang (fried bread stick/donut in rice noodle), never have it crispy enough

Unique Dish: Giant sesame balls and sponge cake

Food Serving Style: Trolley-service! Some foods need to be specially ordered (e.g. Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce (Gai Lan)). There is a hot water jug on the table so you can top-up your tea yourself.

Seating: They have 2 levels for dining with lift access, but seating can be a bit squashy especially if you're put in the side rooms on the lower level. Being seated next to the tanks is smelly.

My Comments: This is my top-pick for the area, especially on Fridays (I dont know why but the food is especially fresh on Fridays). Can be hard to get a waiter's attention mid-dining.
Golden Territory Seafood Restaurant - Campsie

Taste: 4.5/5
Atmosphere: 2/5 (only because the restaurant is so large but so often empty)
Cost: $$$
Yum Cha Hours: From 11am – 3pm (Tue – Fri). From 10am-3pm (Sat-Sun)

Best dish: Prawn sesame roll, chicken spring rolls

Worst dish: None honestly, everything we've had here meets the mark

Unique Dish: Small cubed jellies for dessert

Food Serving Style: À la carte using a check-box sheet and pencil (so the food is always fresh, made-to-order)

Seating: Inside of the Belmore sports club in the same area as the bistro. Can be accessed via stairs or ramp. Really big and beautifully decorated restaurant as it used to be very busy but has lost a lot of the crowd in recent years (as have most Yu...

My Comments: This use to be the king of Yum Chas. I think it's a bit sad they aren't attracting the crowds they use to because their food is great and the restaurant is beautiful. It is a bit pricey though, doesnt seem to be any member discount anymo...

Taste: A heavily debated 3/5 - 4/5. I didnt personally find it great, but my family loved it
Atmosphere: 3/5
Cost: $
Yum Cha Hours: Tuesday - Friday 11:00AM - 2:30PM. Saturday - Sunday 10:30AM - 2:30PM

Best dish: Siu Mai (debated- it's tougher and feels like Indonesian meatballs). Prawn dumplings/har gow

Worst dish: Siu Mai (again, debated- it's tougher and feels like Indonesian meatballs), Chinese Brocolli with Oyster Sauce/Gai Lan (gingery sauce was not what we were expecting and didnt hit)

Unique Dish: None, pretty limited options

Food Serving Style: Trolley service!

Seating: Inside of the Bankstown sports club. Really big and beautifully furnished resaurant, but can feel a bit cold with the open space when it's not busy.

My Comments: Very clean and reliable Yum Cha with a membership discount (10%). Less stressful dining experience as it's not very busy, but it's also pretty slow for the extras (e.g. chilli)
Xing Yan - Bankstown Sports Club

Taste: 2/5
Atmosphere: 1/5
Cost: $
Yum Cha Hours: Daily Yum Cha 10AM - 3PM

Best dish: Custard buns

Worst dish: Some meat dishes were smelly (e.g. chicken feet). Might be being picky because the table we were sat on was dirty and the environment didnt help our appetite

Unique Dish: Custard buns shaped in little pigs- have seen before but I still count it :)

Food Serving Style: Trolley

Seating: Inside of the Campsie RSL on the 2nd level. It is a tiny entrance hallway with long lines which opens to a massive but severely outdated dining area. Tables are generic, but again, ours was dirty. Spacing is good, just really bad ambience

My Comments: This is another controversial opinion on this list because Sun Ho has a great customer fanbase, but it was just not for me. The food is fine but I believe there are better restaurants in the area. One positive for locals is if you alread...

Taste: 3/5
Atmosphere: 3/5
Cost: $
Yum Cha Hours: Monday to Friday: 11am – 3pm, Saturday & Sunday: 10am – 3pm. Seems Mondays and Tuesdays, lunch and dinner, have all you can eat, but I've not tried it yet!

Best dish: zhialiang (fried bread stick/donut in rice noodle), it was really crispy, probably best I've had in Sydney. The fried taro is good too!

Worst dish: Nothing was bad, but nothing else really stood out

Unique dish: Table-side sliced duck pancake!

Food Serving Style: Trolley. They also provide a pictured menu!

Seating: There seem to be multiple entrances to the actual restaurant after entering the club, we were really confused on how to get there. We accessed by passing through the food court area right by the entrance. It's a single level with nice spaced...

My Comments: 15% off for members (free to sign up!) is really hard to beat!

Yum Cha Hours: 9am-3pm everyday

Best dish: Nothing was bad, but nothing else really stood out

Worst dish: Nothing was bad, but nothing else really stood out

Unique dish: I dont remember seeing any dishes I havent seen at other restaurants

Food Serving Style: Trolley!

Seating: Massive wait and a massive staircase upstairs to reach the restaurant. The dining room is very large but dark and very busy. Okay spacing, but honestly did not feel very comfortable to me

My Comments: Look I know this will be contraversal because Vinh Phat has such a loyal fanbase, but after the wait I just was not a huge fan. It was nice, but not my favourite restaurant set up (probably because I was an Iron Chef girl) and the food w...

Yum Cha Hours: Monday – Friday: 10:00 – 15:00. Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 – 15:00

Best dish: Nothing was bad, but nothing else really stood out

Worst dish: Nothing was bad, but nothing else really stood out

Unique dish: I dont remember seeing any dishes I havent seen at other restaurants

Food Serving Style: Trolley!

Seating: There are 2 sections in the restaurant, single floor. The back section where we sat has a slight view of the kitchen where some dishes sit under heat lights. But it was also very loud and didnt feel as comfortable as other restaurants

My Comments: Iron Chef in Cabramatta used to be the absolute best Yum Cha for their mini fried black sesame balls. Although this Yum Cha is nice, it's just not at that level expected from Iron Chef that I was missing when it closed

Taste: 4/5
Atmosphere: 2/5
Cost: $$$
Yum Cha Hours: 11 AM to 3 PM, Tuesday through Saturday, and from 10 AM to 3 PM on Sundays

Best dish: My dad really likes their mango sago pudding dessert and hakao (shrimp dumpling)

Worst dish: Congee was too fishy for me

Unique Dish: First time I've seen Prawn Toast and chicken wings served

Food Serving Style: Servers walk around with trays primarily, but this smaller sample size means things are really fresh

Seating: There is a beautiful sunroom area (see pics), but inside is quite dated. There is a single level so it can be a bit squishy.

My Comments: This is my top-pick for the area, but it is also the most I've probably paid for Yum Cha. Also really excellent service, probably the best I've experienced. I saw some people even clarifying allergens and the staff seemed pretty experien...

Taste: 4/5
Atmosphere: 3/5
Cost: $
Yum Cha Hours: Wednesday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. CLOSED Tuesday

Best dish: Football dumplings AKA Ham Sui Gok, chicken feet was also good and had black beans!

Worst dish: Nothing was bad, but chicken spring roll tasted more like vegetable to me, which is just a me thing because I dont like veg spring roll lol

Unique Dish: First time I've seen Prawn Toast and chicken wings served

Food Serving Style: This is the first yum cha I've been to that you order via QR code, it was really cool and good to know what price you can expect at the end. But you also have to pay for things that you might not usually, including $3 for fresh ch...

Seating: When we first walked in it really reminded us of eating Yum Cha in Hong Kong with the middle tables pushed together where you will be sitting right next to another party. It's a smaller room but very comfortable. Chairs are mix-matched incl....

My Comments: Extremely affordable option with very sweet staff. Super popular in the area as well, a line started to form around 12pm. Because everything is made-to-order, everything is steaming hot and fresh

⛅️ Burwood ⛅️

My definitive ranking of the best Yum Cha in Burwood 🏆 – find out which popular spots are truly worth the trip and which to skip in this competitive foodie hub! 🥟🔥

lottie profile picture
Taste: 4/5
Atmosphere: 4/5
Cost: $$
Yum Cha Hours: Mon - Fri 11am -3pm, Sat - Sun 10:30am -3pm

Best dish: I think they have the best chicken feet. My sister thinks their chicken spring rolls are best. Their bbq pork pastries are the closest we've had to the ones we ate at Lin Heung Tea House in Hong Kong, seriously delicious

Worst dish: My dad didnt enjoy his regular prawn sesame rolls or dumplings and found them too “wet”- but the rest of us didnt have any complaints lol

Unique Dish: There are some really extravagant dishes here and unique trolley items

Food Serving Style: Trolley-service!

Seating: Single level, ample space that is nicely spread out. The restaurant is one level above ground, accessible by escalator or lift

My Comments: This is my top-pick for the area! There is a wait on weekends but you get a ticket and they call it over some speakers so you can wait outside without worry
Royal Treasure Seafood Restaurant - Burwood
