My old laptop would freeze every time I tried to edit a shared spreadsheet with 30 parents refreshing it at once. Switched things up and now I can build a full sign up sheet during one episode of TV.

Half my sign up emergencies happened at soccer practice when a parent texted ‘actually can I swap to 2pm?’ and I needed to fix it right there on the bleachers.

Nothing worse than your phone dying at 11% right when you're confirming the last three time slots. I now carry backup power like it's my wallet.

Trying to type 27 parent names and time slots on a tablet touchscreen nearly broke me. A real keyboard cut my setup time from forty minutes to ten.

Call me paranoid, but after the Great Soccer Snack Schedule Meltdown of 2023 I always keep a paper backup. Technology fails; a spiral notebook does not.

Some parents don't check email. Some don't do apps. Printing a backup sheet for the classroom door caught the five families who would've otherwise been totally lost.

At one point I had sticky notes on my monitor, three printed lists on the counter, and a stack of permission slips slowly merging into one pile. Fixed that real quick.

The sign up sheet doesn't work if your internet drops every time the microwave runs. Learned that one the hard way during a live editing session with my co-chair.

Let's be honest — nobody talks about the fact that organizing 30 families requires caffeine and stress snacks. Here's what keeps me functional at 10pm when I'm finalizing the schedule.
