Plain water makes glitter sink like a rock in half a second. Adding glycerin slows everything down so the snow actually floats and swirls the way it does in the fancy store-bought globes.
Pour about a tablespoon per cup of distilled water and watch the glitter slow right down. Too much makes it goopy, so start small and add more until it looks right.
