We used to sit around staring at our screens even when we were in the same room. The first night I pulled out a board game, nobody touched their phone for three hours straight.

I did the math once — four cocktails out costs what an entire home bar setup runs. Now we make better drinks than most places downtown and nobody has to tip 20% on a $17 vodka soda.

The turning point was when someone said my cheese board was better than the $22 charcuterie plate at our usual spot. Now everyone requests it and I spend maybe $15 total.

Reclining on my own couch without someone kicking my seat or paying $9 for popcorn? Yeah, we haven't been to a theater in months and nobody misses it.

Someone once told me the playlist makes or breaks a hangout and they were absolutely right. Dead silence when people walk in is awkward — background music fixes everything.

Overhead fluorescent lighting makes every room feel like a dentist's office. I swapped a few things and suddenly people started saying my apartment ‘had a vibe’ — took maybe twenty minutes.

One month we tried making pizza from scratch instead of ordering and it was the most fun we'd had in ages. Messy, loud, and everyone argued about toppings — basically perfect.

People used to leave by 10 because sitting on my terrible chairs got uncomfortable. Added a few things and now everyone stays until midnight without even realizing what time it is.

Half the time someone crashes on the couch and waking up to actual breakfast instead of stale chips sealed the deal — now staying over is part of the tradition.
