I used to pry my shears open with my other hand after every cut. Embarrassing. These all have spring mechanisms that snap back open so your fingers just squeeze, never pull.

My left thumb joint started clicking two summers ago. Regular shears made it worse. These are shaped for hands that already hurt, not just hands that might.

Thick branches used to mean I'd grab them with both hands and grunt. Ratchet pruners let you cut in stages so one squeeze doesn't destroy your palm.

Nobody talks about how much bad gloves contribute to cramping. Bulky gloves made me grip harder to compensate. These are thin enough to feel the stems but padded where it counts.

Even with great shears, a full day of pruning takes a toll. I started doing hand recovery after a weekend where I couldn't open a jar on Monday morning. These actually help.
