Nature

We took a day trip from Portland to Cannon Beach. That was the firs time either myself or my husband “touched" the Pacific ocean. Super cute town, good local bars and restaurants, and just a georgous beach.

A beautiful waterfall close to Portland. We hiked the surrounding areas, including getting to the top of the falls. It's a more leisurely spot to visit. Good for all ages.

Aside form Cannon Beach we popped over to this state park while we were in the area. Another beautiful piece of nature, we chatted with some other visitors and were able to peep the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse

Close to Multnomah Falls, the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area was an experience I won't forget. We were able to walk down, right on the river gorge for the Columbia. Looking at the vegetation in across the water didn't even seem real.

This is surprisingly a cool thing to check out. A rushing, fully functional damn. The area is beautiful to walk around. We got to see seal in the water, and you can see a fish ladder that aids in salmon migration.

Breweries

Portland (at least back in 2019) is a micro brew lovers paradise. I don't know the exact stats, but the city has to have on of the highest microbreweries per capita. These are some of our top spots.

What was once called a  “pilot brewery," this spot in Portland proper had a super chill outdoor space to sample some brews that weren't necessarily widely available even at other Rogue brewery locations.

One of the big breweries you think of as stemming from Oregon. We ate dinner there and I ordered bad (I hate it when the happens), but the beer is A+.

They have one of my favorite brews of all time - the cucumber crush. It's a light refreshing sour style beer. 12/10 recommend.

A more rustic spot. We sat outside in a greenhouse-esque space, grabbed food from a food truck they had that they day and enjoyed the ambiance.

At the time, one of the only breweries specifically in Cannon beach. It carries a beachier vibe for sure, as the name implies 😊
Pelican Brewing – Cannon Beach

A funkier spot for sure. I have the it being called “Labrewatory” from our time there in 2019. Serving up more experimental beers.
LA LA Brewery

A now very familiar warehouse style brewery. This one was a little off the beaten path if I recall correctly, but still not far from the heart of Portland. Thoroughly enjoyed the vibes and the beer.

Restaurants

Eating out for every meal is the BEST part of visiting a new place, right? Some of our favorite bites while on vacation in Portland Oregon.

Plan ahead for this one. We got super lucky and were able to walk in and get a table, but it was CROWDED. It's very popular, and for good reason. The Thai food was utterly delicious. It's more of a small, shared plate kind of place, which is great fo...

I try to hit up at least one spot everywhere I travel that's been featured on diners drive-ins and dives. This was the sport in Portland. The noodles were literally the craziest thing I've ever tasted. They were almost like dumplings became noodle-fi...

We ate at the on in Pioneer Square which is a cute little outdoor seating area amid the hustle and bustle of the city. Great breakfast sammies, and quick for on the go.

I was aware of Dutch Bros coffee before our trip out to Oregon, but wasn't really thinking about it. I honest to god saw a billboard which reminded me it was something new we could try 😆🤣….12/10

Restaurants - NOT RECCOMMENDED

There's literally just one, and it's Salt and Straw ice cream.

I don't get the hype, I'm sorry 😖. We waited in a long line, for disappointing ice cream. The flavors are super whacky, and the ice cream itself had the eggiest texture to it that wasn't for me. Love that they're making fresh waffle cones, but even ...
