Things to do and places to be
Some of our favorites from our trip to Maine - was spent time in Portland and Bar Harbor.
A must visit if you go to Maine. Home to the highest peak on the Eastern seaboard, the views and vibes are simply immaculate.
Acadia National Park
The dreamiest, most idyllic spot imaginable. We had great time climbing along the rocks that formed the beaches along the shores here. If I'm not mistaken, this is one of the most photograped lighthouses that exist.
Portland Head Light
Their outdoor space was amazing! Great beer and atmosphere. Very family friendly if you have kids.
Mast Landing Brewing Company
Grabbed a quick lunch here to refuel following a morning of exploring the city and taking in the nature. They're serving up some yummy grilled cheese.
Cheese Louise Portland
We went on this whale watching tour. The boat ride itself was worth it. They had snacks and beverages for purchase on board. You could freely roam around the ship and the guides were informative about the whales and other wildlife. We saw some whales...
Odyssey Whale Watch
Bet you've never been to a kombuchery before. We love trying new things, and kombucha was it for us. This was a super unique fun spot.
Root Wild Kombucha
I fully understand this may be a tourist trap in downtown Portland…but we highly enjoyed our food 😋
Taco Escobarr - Portland
A very popular, unique, delicious spot in Portland.
Duckfat
We had a lot of lobster on this trip, but I think this was by far our favorite. Have lunch as you watch boats move freely about the harbor.
Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster Company
The original LL Bean location. Get a picture with the iconic boot out front! The store inside was also massive.
L.L.Bean Flagship
This is a super fun experience. An island off Bar Harbor, you can only visit during low tide. During low tide, you can walk across the dry waterbed to the island for some leisurely hiking. Be sure to know when to head back, or you'll be left waiting ...
Bar Island Land Bridge
An excellent spot for a beer after exploring the national park.
Fogtown Brewing Company
Check this one out for sure. We went around dusk and it was so beautiful. It's a fun little hike down on the rocks to get the best lighthouse view. You could also find tide pools with starfish and other sea life.
Bass Harbor Head Light Station
This is another thing I know it touristy, but it was very much worth it for me. This iconic restaurant located in Acadia has great food with ever better views. There's a great little hike around a lake that you can do while you're waiting for your ta...
Jordan Pond House Restaurant
A great, not too strenuous hike, and look out point. This eventually lead us into a cave, I believe, as well.
Schooner Head Overlook in Acadia
Great spot in downtown Bar Harbor for a bit. We got lobster grilled cheese which was hit the spot.
Bar Harbor Beer Works
The CUTEST breakfast spot. Go early as it's very popular and get crowded.
Cafe This Way
The highest point on the eastern seaboard, and one of the first points in the continental US to see the sunrise each day!! While you can reserve a spot to drive up, there's many fun hiking trails to get you to the top. There's a gift shop once you're...
Cadillac Mountain - Acadia National Park (U.S. ...
