Beginner Essentials
These are the core tools you need to begin making shirts and vinyl projects. Start with these before buying extras so you don’t waste money on things you won’t use yet.
This is the main machine I use for cutting vinyl. Beginner-friendly, reliable, and versatile enough that you won’t need to upgrade right away.
Cricut Maker® Machines | Unleash Your Creative Potential
This is a great starter pack if you want lots of color options without buying full rolls. Oracal 651 cuts clean and is perfect for decals, signs, and practice projects.

Perfect for small projects and detail work like sleeves, pockets, and hats. Lightweight and easy to use, and great for pressing areas a full-size heat press can’t reach.
Cricut EasyPress Mini Machine | Heat Presses
My “I’m serious about making shirts” machine. Even pressure and consistent heat help designs adhere properly instead of peeling after a few washes. Great upgrade once you’re making shirts regularly.

Cricut Basic Tool Set: Handheld Essentials for Every Crafter
If your cuts aren’t clean, it’s usually the mat. A good grip means less lifting and less wasted vinyl. Tip: use the correct grip level so you don’t shred material removing it.

Vinyl Application
Tools and materials used to apply vinyl cleanly and accurately, helping designs go on straight and smooth with less trial and error.
The grid is the whole point. Makes centering and straight placement way easier—especially for names and quotes.
Tip: Burnish in one direction to avoid bubbles
Oracal 12" Clear Transfer Tape w/Grid
For tiny letters and picky designs. Makes detailed weeding faster and way less rage-y.
Tip: Use good lighting and start from a corner so you don’t get stuck.
Pin Pen Weeding Tool
Not required, but really helpful for cutting vinyl, cardstock, and paper straight and fast without using scissors.
WORKLION Pink 12 Inch Straight Paper Cutter
Heat Press Protection
These protect your shirts and your heat press so vinyl presses cleanly instead of burning, sticking, or ghosting.
My “don’t ruin the shirt” layer. Prevents sticking and helps vinyl press evenly.
Tip: One sheet under + one over for layered designs.
3 Pack PTFE Teflon Sheet Heat Press 16x20
Easy-to-use iron-on vinyl that cuts clean and presses smoothly. Great for beginner shirts. Tip: follow Cricut heat settings exactly for best results.

Used as a protective layer when heat pressing vinyl to prevent scorching or vinyl sticking to your press.
Butcher Paper

These are the blanks I press my designs onto. Affordable, consistent, and they hold up well with heat transfer vinyl.
My go-to blanks for everyday tees. Affordable, consistent sizing, and they press well. Always pre-press first.
