NAILS

Fake nails- I recommend pre-designed nails. Based on 4 years of trial and error- designing on your own takes lots of time I'm talking 4-6 hours with no guarantee of them ending up how you wanted. Instead, buy quality nails with the design you love. I...

Long lasting, quality and inclusive. I can't rave enough about this company's quality press on nails. Like c'mon now- the rest of the companies need to catch up!
Long Square Brown Press Ons

Highest quality glue on nails I have found. Ombre slays always. Just proper prep on the nail AND the fake nail + builder gel= manicure lasting 2-3weeks. LOVE THESE.
XCOATTIPS Ombre Nails - $15

Can't rave enough about this brand. Person of color/brown skin friendly which is sooo great. Too many companies don't make enough fake nails that are friendly for everyone's “nude” shade and this nail company has solved that problem.

Cute for a fast and easy application. However prep is super important! Buff your nails, cuticles, apply alcohol, then glue, buff the press on nail, and use builder gel!
Press on Nails - $7

Why pay $70-$100 at a salon for cute nails you can apply at home? I also love searching through etsy and finding custom nails to purchase a well (;

Strong Nail Glue

The base of DIY Nails you don't have to constantly glue back on is the glue. I tested for over three years to find the right formula to have nails that actually stay on. This is the ONLY one I will reccommend. Nothing has come close to this glue.

THE only nail glue that actually HOLDS-- like acyrillic level glue strength. I work with my hands constantly and my nails don't budge.
$10-$12 NailBond Super Strong Nail Glue

UV Lamp

A good UV lamp is the foundation of diy nails. I reccommend investing in a decent one to ensure you're able to keep it for longer.

This UV light has lasted me about 3-4 years. Its sturdy, reliable and PINK. No issues with it. Cures the nails great- it is $40, but I think it's 100% worth it.
$40 SUNUV UV LED Nail Lamp

More affordable and has a countdown for the timers. Does the job, you don't always need to invest in a UV lamp with the right products.

Builder Gel

Builder gel wasn't necessary for me until I started using nail glue. This is key in keeping your nail design protected.

Application is easy, just make sure to have good lighting to ensure even spread of product. I tried other products and this is the fastest, most effective. You can even use it on natural nails to make them stronger while you're taking a break from fa...
$14 Biobuilder Clear Builder Gel

Top Coat Polish

These are products I have used and recommend regarding topping off your nails. There are two important differences- No Wipe Top Coat and Top Coat. Top Coat that is No Wipe does NOT require alcohol and nail wipes and vice versa.

If you want an easy, non sticky top coat this is your girl. It's 7 bucks, it's effective, it lasts, and you don't have to worry about wiping down a sticky top like most gel top coats. Two coats of this OVER the builder gel and CHEFS KISS- nails look ...
$7 Vishine No Wipe Top Coat Gel

Ok I KNOW I KNOW it's $$ BUT I bought on 4/27/2023 and there is still product on 3/6/2026 as I write this. It's high quality and what most salons use. However, you do need to purchase alcohol + wipes to remove the sticky-ness of the top coat.
$34 Gelish Terrific Trio Essentials

Salon quality finish is why I like this one best. The price is worth it- con is needing to wipe it off once cured with alcohol wipe. Not necessity for DIY nails, but I think it can make a difference depending on the circumstance.

Affordable nail drill for the basic need of shaping your nail for under $10 bucks! I've had it since January 2025 and have no complaints.
$10 Electric Nail Drill,USB

Another great, affordable e-file for $10! No need to get an expensive e-file unless you're doing acrylic or polygel, which are NOT beginner friendly.
$10 MelodySusie Pen-Shaped Portable USB Nail Drill

This is one of the safer options for the cuticle area IF you're in a pinch for time. However, I reccommend using a hand tool regardless since that 100% won't damange your nails. Watch tutorials before wrecking your nail beds- learn from my mistakes.

Rechargeable Reading Light, $10

Great for alcohol and acetone, but store upright and remember to close it. I have found my alcohol and acetone dried up so I do recommend a glass option for that reason.
Push Down Pump Dispenser- plastic $6

Maria Frasi profile picture
I wish I invested in this one from the start of my at home manicures- I basically threw away $6 on plastic ones that I ruined from leaving open or storing improperly. So if you're like me and forgetful, I recommend glass.

Press-On Nail Remover (Fast)

Easy and fast products to help you reapply or keep your nails bare for a bit without harming your nails.

Maria Frasi profile picture
Easy way to remove nails for cheap. I was soaking them off with acetone or buffing them down until my nail plate burned- EEK. Nope. Not anymore. I'm still testing out products since this one takes a bit more patience. Love it regardless.
Glue Remover for Base Coat Press On Nails $9

This one seems to take less time and is a bit more effective. Who would have thought that you didnt have to torture your nails with acetone??? not me.
