This list comes from my own journey working onboard cruise ships. I started in an entry-level housekeeping position and gradually worked my way up to Executive Housekeeping Manager. Along the way, I experienced the realities behind the beautiful destinations: long working days, limited cabin space, different schedules from my cabinmate, frequent uniform laundry, changing time zones and months away from family. Working at sea taught me that the most useful items are rarely the most exciting ones. They are the small things that help you sleep between shifts, keep your uniform presentable, organize your joining documents, stay comfortable during a long working day or make a family call a little easier. I created this list to share the products and practical ideas that can genuinely help during a cruise ship contract. Not every item will suit every department or ship, so always check your company’s luggage, electrical and cabin-safety rules before bringing something onboard. These recommendations are based on real crew life, not just on what looks useful in a travel checklist.
