This is what will actually treat the symptoms of seb derm.
*If your case is severe however, it is recommend you go see a dermatologist*
Ketoconazole is the gold standard for treating seb derm. This is the otc version which contains 1% but you need a prescription for a 2%.
Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo with 1% Ketoconazole
Really good for crusty flakes and contains salicylic acid for gentle exfoliation and removing buildup.
Neutrogena T/Sal Therapeutic Shampoo, Dandruff Shampoo with Salicylic Acid
Slows yeast growth, helps with flakes, and regulates oil production.
Selsun Blue Medicated Antidandruff Shampoo
Treats seb derm, while also treating the itch that comes along with it.
Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength Dandruff Shampoo With Cooling Itch Relief
Probably the most gentle medicated shampoo and can actually be used daily unlike most medicated shampoos. Reduces flakes fast while also hydrating your scalp.

Non-Medicated Shampoos
For your non-medicated wash days to maintain a healthy scalp without irritating it further.
For your non-medicated days if you have an oily scalp. Contains a gentle, sulfate-free, and oil-balancing formula that won’t irritate or strip your scalp!
CeraVe Oil Control Balancing Shampoo for Oily Hair
For your non-medicated days if you have a normal to dry scalp. Has 1% pyrithione zinc, niacinamide, and ceramides to reduce flakes and soothe irritation without stripping your scalp!
CeraVe Gentle Hydrating Shampoo
Best for sensitive scalps and very unlikely to cause flare ups!
Vanicream Shampoo for Sensitive Skin
Lightweight shampoo great for calming irritated scalp.
Kristin Ess Hair Extra Gentle Shampoo
Conditioners
If you’re only using conditioner on your mids to ends (like it’s recommended) you can use pretty much anything, but these recs have ingredients that won’t harm seb derm.
