While I wouldn't necessarily recommend making Odaiba “home base” during your trip, it is a great place to find the best attractions and theme parks and is also very family friendly, having the most attractions for your kids as well! If Shinjuku wasn'...

What to do

Odaiba's true translation should be “attractions” because this is where all the museums, theme parks and recreational areas are! You can easily spend a couple days going through all the museums and theme parks, which makes it the prime place for tour...

We all poop, but Japan has taken it to the next level to find the beauty in poop. Great for friends or family, this museum only offers 1 hour tickets, but that's plenty of time to take your pictures and see the exhibits - definitely worth your time!

While some are still visiting the Tsukiji outer market, the Toyosu location is where the actual fish selling happens. The fish sales are more private than before, unless you're looking to buy a 1000lb tuna, but they have built up the area with great ...

We love onsen, especially if it's 24hr! Meant as a way for those purchasing fish at the market to stay the night and relax, this is a newly built onsen by the seaside that will relax your bones after going to literally every single museum in Odaiba.

Something about miniatures is so nostalgic, whether you're a kid or adult. There's something very cool about the composition of these small worlds that takes precision and artistry, so it's definitely a must see!

There are a bunch of free exhibits in Odaiba to enjoy, including the Sewerage museum. While seemingly not a first choice museum wise, you might be surprised to see how interactive and unique this museum is.

Another free museum to the south of the Sewerage museum that you can hit in the same day. If sewerage isn't your thing, you might be more interested in Japan's water science and how they're trying to make the world a better place.

One of the only beaches in Tokyo, this is a manmade beach connected to Odaiba. It's not necessarily a beach to put down your folding chairs and umbrellas, but when the weather is nice, it's a great place to stroll and enjoy the sun.

This park sits in the middle of the water and features historical monuments including the memorial monument, Daisan-daiba, site of explosive storage, remains of stove and site of gun battery. It also offeres a great sunset view!

Senkyaku Banrai is a new development attached to Toyosu fish market and houses the new onsen and shopping and eating street. But people also stop by for the famous footbath - especially great if you're not a public bath aficionado.

Where to eat

Odaiba isn't first on my list for good eats, but with all of the new developments, like the Toyosu fish market, Senkyaku Banrai, and more, there are more and more restaurants popping up in the area.

Close to the Kiranah Garden, this is a dining option if you aren't able to get a reservation for barbeque. With it being fairly new, I personally haven't tried it yet, but from the testimonials, it's the place to chill and have a delicious bite!

For those who want to have large barbeque parties, this new space in Toyosu can be reserved for large parties. There aren't that many places within Tokyo that have spaces in order to do this, plus it has the fanciness of a resort!

Senkyaku Banrai is Toyosu's newest development, not only housing the new onsen and footbath but also housing a ton of new restaurants. This is the best area to eat in Odaiba since most places are warehouses outside of the malls and fish market.

Where to shop

While you aren't going to find your souvenirs in Odaiba (outside of museum gift shops), there are a couple great malls and shopping centers for you to visit and leisurely shop through!
