Milk tea in the Bay Area is a huge thing! We have an extensive list of milk tea places and as someone who is a former barista and self-appointed milk tea aficionado, I'm here to share some of the best and not so great places to get your next tea fix!
5/5 - By far my favorite tea place in the Bay. Tea quality is nice and strong, my favorites include the passion fruit green tea, passion mango smoothie, and tieguanyin tea
TP Tea
4/5 - Rebranded from Ceremony to CereTea, their matcha and hojicha are really good. Definitely go for the Einspanner with an extra shot to keep it strong and creamy compared to the regular latte.
Ceré Tea
4/5 - The Thai tea and Viet coffee (or both combined) is the saving grace for this cafe. I'm not a huge fan of any of their other drinks, but I still definitely go for my staple drinks and they're good every time
7 Leaves Cafe
4/5 - Another “straight from Taiwan” that has good quality and unique drinks. Love their taro with sago (they use traditional taro instead of syrup) and most of their top 10 drinks are great, including the grapefruit and passion fruit!
TEATOP台灣第一味
3.5/5 - I was excited to try this place because it feels like the Louie Vuitton of milk tea with the packaging and vibes. The tea is very floral, however I can imagine the grand opening to be more hype than about the quality of their tea. The menu is...
Molly Tea 茉莉奶白
3.5/5 - Marketed as a “Michelin Star” boba shop has made this location super crowded, but for the wait I feel like there are other places that have better drinks. Quality wise, I do think their tea is good, but is it worth waiting 30+ mins in a crowd...
Chicha San Chen 吃茶三千
3.5/5 - TenRen is one of those solids that don't fade away, and one of the few places that actually carries loose leaf tea that you can buy separately. While I haven't done so before, I think this is a testament of them knowing which teas are actuall...
Ten Ren Tea
3.5/5 - I am in love with the mango matcha and will always come for that drink specifically, however the rest of the menu doesn't excite me too much. With there being so many locations, it doesn't resonate as special, but when you need a fix it's nic...
HAPPY LEMON USA
3.2/5 - Drinks are pretty solid but what really keeps these shops interesting is the swag that they have. Probably the most colorful boba shop that I've been to and it's cool to see the little toys and cup accessories that they have, but the quality ...
Ume tea
3.2/5 - There is something so nostalgic about Fantasia where I will still go to this day for their fruit teas. It's definitely a no frills place and yes, sometimes the drinks aren't perfect. But the fruit flavors are usually on point and satisfies a ...
Fantasia Coffee & Tea
3/5 - THIS PLACE IS SO CHINESE which got me thinking ok this is promising! I would say the tea here is SUPER FLORAL, so if you're into that then it's a great try. I can tell that they use high quality tea, but some of their flavors are not what I typ...
MoonTea
3/5 - Another boba shoppe that brings great aesthetics, but I didn't find any of their drinks to be anything special. I usually judge tea places on whether I would go back for my favorite drink, but I just can't find a drink that is my favorite here,...
Pink Pink Tea Shoppe
2.9/5 - definitely not my favorite and I only have a couple of go to drinks when I come. Their matcha and hojicha are pretty decent but have had bad experience with their other drinks, so I only come when friends wanna go
Boba Guys
2.9/5 - I have to admit that I feel this tea shop gives the same vibes of Boba Guys, but definitely has a different menu than them. Appealing to a less Asian and more universal crowd, their teas are very standard, but sometimes have a lack of flavor ...
Urban Ritual
2.5/5 -They claim to have the highest quality, most unique hand-made fruit beverages, but I found that most of the drinks are more decorative than good. It very much feels like a tea shop cultivated around an entrepreneur spirit, since they have thei...
ZERO&
2.5/5 - If there weren't any other options, I would come here but I'm not in awe with their menu or specialty drinks. My go-to used to be their white peach milk tea, but quality has gone down since I used to get it.
