Every year around my birthday in April, I like to explore nearby towns or cities. It’s close, a very flexible itinerary, a mix of hiking and relaxing and paired with some good food and it’s dog friendly :)

Whidbey Island
It’s a big island with lots of cute towns. My favorite is Langley and Anacortes. Perfect for relaxation and hiking. Yet to visit their distilleries and go mushroom foraging :)
Take the stairs down from Boy & Dog park for lunch with views. They have picnic tables and you can either pack your lunch or do a takeout from nearby restaurants.
Explore shops at Langley
My favorite is the Flower shop - great for picking gifts ...

Very windy in Hood River during April, loved the weather otherwise. Plenty of good options for food and very scenic. Liked going during spring more than summer!
On your way to Columbia River gorge, makes for a perfect breakfast bite. Love their garlic herb cream cheese with Asiago bagel. Rosemary sea salt was nice, a little too salty though
Howdy Bagel
Early dinner at Bluto’s - woodfire Greek food!! It was the yummiest 💛 woodfired Greek souvlaki, spring veggies with hummus, woodfire pita, soft serve with tahini chocolate and loads of pistachios
Bluto's
Dog friendly, by the river with beautiful views! We had the river facing room :) it’s quite windy during April, don’t know about other months!
Westcliffe Lodge, Hood River - Dog friendly
Picked up English muffin sandwich from Pine St Bakery, really good. Some coffee, their apricot jammer was the best I’ve had 💛 jammer is an Oregon thing, kinda like a biscuit, but better. Also the raspberry kolache was delicious.
Pine Street Bakery
Packed a veggie burrito from the Farm Stand (located inside a grocery store) and chicken wrap for my partner - we devoured it after the hike!! It was hearty and flavorful. The nicest veggie burrito with their special sauce that binds all the flavors.
Farm Stand in the Gorge
This is a beautiful spot, accessible for all. You can see the falls right at the entrance and the hike up is optional. April is a wonderful time to go, perfect weather and parking is easier to find. In summers the lot gets full they put a barrier at ...

Dinner from Solstice pizza
Mushroom and margherita pizza , with wine. We did takeout to enjoy the views from our room. Their s’mores dessert is luscious and decadent! Housemade marshmallow, the silkiest thing I’ve had! Soooo good!
Solstice Wood Fire Pizza, Cafe & Bar
Stroll on the Main St. while waiting to be seated at the Broder Ost for brunch. I’d never had a Scandinavian style breakfast and was excited. They did not disappoint!

Port Townsend
This was our anniversary trip during November. Cold and windy, but beautiful!
It's a cozy fine dine restaurant in Port Townsend. It was perfect for our anniversary dinner. We made a reservation 1-2 weeks in advance.
My absolute favorite things on the menu: the mushroom risotto (with chanterelles and other foraged mushrooms!) a...
Finistère
A boutique vintage hotel, great location. They have a small lounge with drinks and snacks and some live music on some days. I love antique decor in general and their choice of lighting was beautiful.
The Bishop Hotel
I forgot to pack my jewelery and picked up a pair of silver earrings to match with my dress :) the antique hall is great for lamps and accessories!
Port Townsend Antique Mall
Diner style easy going breakfast, right by the water and ample seating
Hudson Point Café
Walking between the beautiful historic buildings and lots of stores in between. The marine center is also on the same street, you can’t miss the big whale skeleton. We picked pizza by the slice as we walked on the street in the afternoon.
Port Townsend Main Street
The whale tour takes off right in the heart of the town and makes for a great day trip if you have the time and the weather permits!
