New to Austin and still eating my way around, but these spots have quickly become my go-tos. Nothing fancy here, just good food that hits every time. :) I don’t eat out a ton, so when I find a place I love, it really sticks.

What’s an Austin food list without Home Slice? I’m mainly here to preach about the Italian sub. If you haven’t had it, you’re missing out. The pizza’s great, but the sub is top tier. And if you’ve got room for dessert, the tiramisu and cheesecake are...
Home Slice Pizza
If you’re going to try pizza in Austin, try Pedroso’s. The pizza’s super flavorful and the crust has that perfect toasty crunch. They also have an Italian sub that’s really good, but it’s hard to beat Home Slice for me personally. Not a ton of seatin...
Pedroso's Pizza
Late-night food truck serving up some seriously good tacos. I’ve never not seen this place busy, but the line moves quick. Not a lot of seating, so plan to eat in the car or take it back. Cash only.
Tacos El Charly
Very casual sports bar with friendly, helpful staff. Pretty sure they’ve won awards for best wings in Austin, and for good reason. You can get your wings six different ways with 29 sauces, all made in house. Always hits.
Wingzup
Best burritos I’ve had in Austin so far. The Super Burrito is a must! The meat’s super tender, the crispy exterior is chef’s kiss, and the salsas have great flavor with just the right amount of heat. This place can get busy, so I’d recommend ordering...
Asado's Taqueria
Family-owned spot that makes solid burgers. My favorites are the Chili Cheese (they make the chili in house and it’s apparently award-winning) and the classic. They’ve got a ton of options, and it’s just a great, easy place to grab a good burger.
Moonies Burger House
I come here for the Khao Man Gai, which is so comforting to me. It’s a poached chicken dish served with rice and a little soup on the side. If poached chicken isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other dishes on the menu worth getting!
P Thai's Khao Man Gai & Noodles
Best pho in Austin, hands down. I want to gatekeep this place so bad since it’s always packed on the weekends, but they deserve all the hype. One of the only spots I’ll actually wait for. Everything on the menu is delicious, you really can’t go wrong...
Phở Phong Lưu
Austin has a bunch of Michelin-star-level BBQ spots, but this is the one I keep coming back to. If you want great BBQ without waiting in a ridiculously long line, this is it. For me, the BBQ has to be good, but the sides can’t be slacking either (and...
Stiles Switch BBQ
I was so excited when I found out this place opened in Austin since the original is from Houston! We mainly come here for the xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and they’re so good. The spicy braised beef soup is another go-to, and they’ve got a great vari...
Dumpling World
They’ve got some really good smash burgers. You can get a single or a double (definitely get the double). The bun’s soft, the patties get that nice crispy crust, and the flavor is just so good. The combo comes with a generous amount of fries too. It’...
Patty Palace
Can you tell I like burgers? lol. Buddy’s is probably my favorite burger spot in Austin right now. It gives fast food vibes, but the quality is so much better. Just something about their burgers hits every time. Honestly, I haven’t met a burger I did...
This place can get really busy though, and I’m not someone who likes waiting around for food. If it’s super packed and the drive-thru line’s long, I’d say come back another time. Definitely worth trying though.
Buddy's Burger
A spot for Chinese Szechuan dishes and it is AMAZING. The place is tiny with minimal seating so you might wait a bit, but it’s worth it I promise (and you know I don’t like waiting for food lol). If you’ve been to Houston, you know the Asian food sce...
House of Three Gorges (三峡人家)
Drinks & Sweets
Coffee shop tucked in an H-E-B parking lot. They’ve got a few tables outside if you want to hang out for a bit. I’ve liked every drink I’ve tried here, but the Kanpai is my favorite. They even offer a punch card for your return visits, and it’s very ...
Hometown Coffee
Asian-inspired ice cream flavors that smack. If you try any flavor, pleaseeeee try the mango sticky rice. It’s my favorite! I also love that their ice cream isn’t too sweet. They sell pints too if you want to keep the goodness going at home. It’s loc...
KESSHŌ Artisanal Chocolate and Gelato
The amount of sweets they have is insane. It’s self-serve with conchas, churros, cookies, and more. They even have specialty concha flavors like Dubai chocolate. They also offer a wide selection of food if you want something savory, but we mainly com...
Mi Tradicion
Who doesn’t love a cute dessert?? The mochi donuts are adorable and taste great, soft and not too sweet. Some flavors are a little subtle, but still worth trying. Come here for the taiyaki though, it’s the real star. Their drinks are also super solid...
OMG Squee
Great coffee and matcha with unique flavors. This place blew up when it first opened, and while the hype has calmed down a bit, it’s still busy for a reason. The parking garage can be rough since there aren’t many spots and it’s usually full, so I’d ...
Caphe.in Coffee
We mainly come here for the agua fresca and the elote in a cup, and both always hit. The agua fresca is the perfect level of sweetness too, not too much. They also have a massive selection of ice cream and snacks that I see everyone else grabbing. I ...
