This novel is one of the best storylines I’ve read in a long time. It combines everything with rural Appalachia and the lore that hides in those hollers. You’ll be hooked on this story after the first chapter.
Revelator: A novel by Daryl Gregory, Paperback
A new look at how possession can still be a possibility in the 21st century. I couldn’t put this down until I finished it completely. Definitely a new take on paranormal
The Handyman Method by Nick Cutter
The small details in this novel add up overtime. I finished this in two days. Amazing plot twist!
Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak
Excellent use of storytelling from different backgrounds to create the sense of the human experience and death.
Creatures of a Day: Yalom, Irvin D.: 9780465097432
Interesting story with changing POV. You have to pay attention to that when reading the novel. Overall, it’s a classic storyline that’s been updated for today.
The Starter Wife: Laurin, Nina - Books
One of my favorite novels. This has so many genres in one. The pace is perfect and the presentation of grief is amazing. The movie is fairly decent but the book is better.
The Lovely Bones: Sebold, Alice: 9780316168816
Interesting story around a woman caring for her elderly mother. This book dives into how complicated and unique the relationship between children and parents can be.
The Almost Moon: A Novel by Alice Sebold
One of the best mystery novels in the 21st century. Every chapter left me hanging for more until I finished it in a week
Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris
Nothing super interesting. Very basic romantic novel. I prefer more details and drama and this was just a sad love story
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Original coming of age novel with music references and fast pace. LBGTQ+ genre
Debbie Harry Sings in French by Meagan Brothers
Fantastic true story of addiction struggles and the relationship between addiction and loved ones.
Beautiful Boy: A Father's Struggle & Recovery
AMAZING! I loved this story so much! The movie is fairly close to the novel but you have to pay attention in the novel! Small details are key to this story. Not to mention, it will make you feel as awkward as the narrator
“I'm Thinking Of Ending Things” By Iain Reid Review : r/horrorlit
I loved this novel. This is a must read for people that use public transportation AND people watch. It makes you appreciate the patterned behaviors that humans have.
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Truly amazing novel. This makes you think about how we regard animals and food in reality. Trigger warning for violence and sexual abuse and maybe animal abuse. You decide.
Tender Is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica
Whistle blower novel that exposed working conditions in the early 19th century. This wasn’t required to read when I was in High School but I was interested in the subject. This documents turn of the century laws and ideas in the industrial USA.
The Jungle by Upton Sinclair
American Classic Novel. One of my favorites from high school. Gives the same vibes as Animal Farm by Orwell. Puts into perspective that idea of Law and Order and if they can exist without truly being defined.
Lord of the Flies by William Golding, 9780399501487
Short novel. It does give a decent metaphor about life.
The Pearl by John Steinbeck
Classic Americana Novel. Trigger warning for animal abuse. It was a good story and I can see why it’s a classic. Not a long read and can be done in a day.
Of Mice and Men: Steinbeck, John: 9780140177398
Poetry that connects religious experiences with human connections and nature. While they have a deeper meaning, it’s almost superficial in the discussion of the context.
Scary, No Scary: Schomburg, Zachary
You either hate this book or love it. I hate it. The narrator is not consistent and doesn’t care about the documentation of his own experience. He’s a spoiled child that expresses himself in the worse of ways. While this takes place in the 1930-1940s...
The Catcher in the Rye - Discussion : r/books
This novel can definitely help in understanding the importance and difficulty in caring for older parents with memory issues.
The Theft of Memory: Losing My Father
Historical fiction based in Hickory, NC. I personally loved this novel as it tackled so many topics and issues in the North and the South of the United States. It also provides some historical facts around NC during the war.
The Stolen Marriage: A Novel - Chamberlain, Diane
This does have some trigger warnings with abuse and neglect.
I loved the story as someone that enjoys thrillers and true crime. This is a story of fiction but the themes are ripped from headlines.
Room: A Novel - Donoghue, Emma: Books
Lovelace is one of the best modern poets for women that I’ve read this far. The prose and imagery is truly outstanding in this collection of poems
The Princess Saves Herself in This One by Amanda Lovelace
Very sexy. This started my Smut Reading. I will say that it’s kinda cringey but it’s like reading fan fiction from middle school
Scream For Us (Order of the Unseen, #0.5) by Molly Doyle
Trigger warning with Eating Disorders. This was a quick read. Very similar and more simple that my sisters keeper with regards to terminally ill children
Vanishing: 9780064472340: Brooks, Bruce: Books
Good novel. It does explore the aftermaths of kidnappings and the potential consequences for all parties, including the victim.
What Was Mine by Helen Klein Ross
One of the best Americana novels about the system and the inhabitants. Truly a classic that shouldn’t be banned.
Animal Farm: 75th Anniversary Edition
One of my favorite Southern Novels. As someone from the South, this was such a real story. It was a movie that Lifetime made in the early 90s, which is also good. This story captures what it is to be a girl in the days of the south without a daddy. T...
Bastard Out of Carolina: A Novel: Allison, Dorothy
Childhood favorite. This opened my eyes to true imagination as a kid.
Harry Potter Paperback Box Set (Books 1-7)
As someone that’s not a massive fan of JK Rowling, as a person, this novel is actually good. I finished it two days. It has the teenage edge, story, and background of early 2000s teens in London. Each character has a unique background that can relate...
The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
Generic love story about terminally ill teens. I could be a negative person but I’m not a fan of romance novels.

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian
One of the most underrated novels by Sherman Alexie. This is an original story with an original experience. This novel makes you think of everything that was before you and what will be after you in this lifetime.
Flight: A Novel: Alexie, Sherman - Books
This is one of the series that creates canon events for you. If you love Greek Mythology and fantasy, this book is for you. While this is considered YA, I think anyone can read these and enjoy them.

Truly an incredible story about how past trauma can keep the human spirit alive.
