Inexplicably I've decided to catalog the boos I've read here. I aspire to read faster and read more but I am who I am. I lean toward literary fiction and speculative fiction the most, but I'm open to all genres. All links are from bookshop.org which gives 80% of their profits to independent bookstores.

Books I read in the year 2026
3 stars - only read this if you are comfortable spending your time inside the mind of an insecure woman
Audition: A Novel
2 and a half stars - Spiritually connected to The Last of Us in it's mushroom infection vibes but less bleak. A little bleak, but less so.
Pedro the Vast
4 and a half stars - I thought I'd hate this because its a grumpy old woman's letters but a few pages in and I was enthralled. One of the rare books that made me cry.
The Correspondent: A Novel
0 stars - hated every second of this experience. This is really “I'm not like the other girls” vibes. We are all like each other. Sorry!!
Bunny: A Novel
3 stars - Bob Mortimer is the funniest guy I love him. His writing and cadence is always a delight.
The Clementine Complex
5 stars - This book is for sickos but I found it incredibly cathartic
Rejection: Fiction
3 stars - NGL I bought this because the cover was pretty and I came away from it with some more empathy for the undocumented immigrant experience
Catalina: A Novel
2025
Books I read in the year 2025.
2 and a half stars - I was influenced into Fleur Jaeggy being an alternative to Didion. I can't say this one did much for me but I did enjoy exiting in this world for a while.
Sweet Days of Discipline
2 stars - this is the book that made me come to terms with the fact that I don't like gothic storytelling.
If You're Seeing This, It's Meant for You: A Novel
4 stars - I know people didn't like this one because one character was an incel and the other one was a loser and they were both men. But TBH getting me to understand and empathize with those characters is a magic trick and for that reason this book ...
Intermezzo: A Novel
5 stars!!!! This book made me fall in love with a talking rock!!!!!
Project Hail Mary: A Novel
3 and a half stars - a quiet sad dystopian story about giving in to authoritarianism
The Memory Police: A Novel
5 stars - I blew through this and I just found the mystery of this dystopian world so fascinating and haunting!
I Who Have Never Known Men
3 stars - the inside Facebook tell-all that was almost sued out of existence. I'm glad this book exists but also the author paints herself as frustratingly polyanna around one of the most selfishly evil CEOs on earth over and over.
Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism
3 stars - Joan “thin and sad” Didion
Play It As It Lays: A Novel
2 stars - okay romance but painfully preachy
The High Dive
2 stars - A romance where you learn kind of a lot about how an orchestra works for 200 pages and then you get 100 pages of sex for doing that homework lmao
Not Another Love Song
3 and a half stars - This gave me some new perspective and I liked the experience of reading it
Martyr! A Novel
3 stars - a fun time that I didn't have to think that hard about
Funny Story
2 and a half stars - this one is fun and fine! Didn't require much thinking from me
Good Material: A Novel
3 stars - like reading something set in the manson family ranch. Not as strong as her other book The Guest
