Echo Park
laveta is another OG favorite that sits near and dear to my heart. after moving to echo park in 2021, i began frequenting laveta more and more. i quickly became friends with the baristas at the time, as i spent a lot of time working online from this ...
coffee, matcha, and food are all great. i personally love the brutalist vibes, but i know that might not be everyone's cup of tea. another spot that's great to pull up in a cute outfit and people watch. there will likely be a line, but i think it's w...
Laveta
1
a newer coffee shop in historic filipinotown. queer-owned + super duper cute and colorful! one of the most fun drink menus in all of LA – their banana cream matcha is heavenly.
Couplet Coffee
Silverlake
we're going to ignore the fact that cafe nido shares its space with a controversial cocktail bar and, instead, acknowledge how beautiful this space looks in the daytime. lack of parking aside, cafe nido is a great place to meet with friends, read a b...
Cafe Nido: Coffee & Books
dinosaur coffee is one of my favorite shops to work remotely from. their coffee, matcha, chai (!!!), and pastry offerings are all delicious. the skylight in the center of the shop makes the space feel bright and airy, bringing a calming feeling as my...
Dinosaur Coffee
NELA
my favorite coffee shop in highland park. love that they have rotating, seasonal specials (both coffee and tea).
they offer roasts from all over the world – they even carry beans from one of my favorite BK coffee shops, SEY. i love that they also offer different matchas and various alternative milk options.
do yourself a favor and drive to HLP on a sunday morning, get a bagel at belle's bagels a block over, walk to kumquat for a coffee or matcha, then enjoy your breakfast at the park nearby.
Kumquat Coffee HLP
loquat is kumquat's cool older sister. founded by the same owners, loquat roasts the private label beans offered at kumquat coffee in HLP. nestled in cypress park, loquat is a bit more lowkey than kumquat, but the coffee and matcha are just as great.
Loquat Coffee
Los Feliz
maru is my OG top-tier LA coffee shop. when i moved to LA in 2020, i lived in east hollywood and quickly became a regular here – sometimes i'd even go twice in one day (i don't even want to know how much money i've spent here).
maru roasts their own coffee and their matcha was, for the longest time, some of the best matcha in LA. obviously their matcha is still great, but more and more places are upping their matcha game, so they have some competition now. they were also on...
if you're looking for a coffee shop to pull up in a cute outfit and read or people watch, maru is the place for that. be prepared to wait in line, but i promise you it's worth it.
MARU COFFEE
East Hollywood
a vietnamese coffee shop in east hollywood with strong coffee and southeast asian flavors. my go-to is their pandan matcha latte.
Nam Coffee
Koreatown
as with any coffee shop or business in ktown, parking here is rough – BUT i promise it is so so worth it. their double matcha is definitely more of a treat, but so yummy without being too sweet or the cream top being too thick.
Stagger Coffee
Mid-City
a cool coffee shop in mid-city with a great selection of roasts and a quaint, serene outdoor space in the back – perfect for a catch-up with a friend or a quick WFH moment!
