We somehow got into the cone of a hurricane living in Southwest AZ. It's rare but does happen. Here are some things that I bought for this situation.
I have at least 10 of these in my freezer. They work great for lunch bags as well as putting behind fans for cool air
When the power goes out these little fans can help keep you cool.
It's a staple, I went and got 3 bags and put them in my freezer while I still had power
I have several of these and we use them for camping and fishing as well as power outages

Keep a go bag for each family member. These are waterproof and can fit many things
This is the best way to get news if cell services are toast.
These blankets will help keep you warm if there is no heat
Most of these are just add water and come with a little heat pack to activate.
Pets are family too! Keep them safe in carriers if your traveling
