House on Fire Gingerbread House Competition Inspo
For our “house on fire” gingerbread house, we used a mix of budget-friendly, creative supplies to bring the scene to life. Red frosting and battery-operated candles from Dollar Tree created realistic flames—we carved out holes in the roof, front door, and windows, placed the candles inside, and covered them with red frosting. We also added more frosting and some cookie crumbs on the outside to enhance the fiery effect. Green frosting from Dollar Tree was a must-have for creating grass around the firehouse, while black licorice made perfect roads and asphalt. Since figurines weren’t available, we used gummy bears as “firemen” and “burning house victims,” which added a playful, colorful touch. Vanilla frosting helped us outline details, draw lines on the road, and add finishing touches to the house, and light-up fire trucks from Dollar Tree completed the scene with authentic firefighter detail. Of course, the gingerbread house base itself came from Walmart (or your favorite store), sturdy and affordable for decorating with all these creative elements. Dollar Tree is truly a go-to for budget-friendly supplies that make any gingerbread house, even a dramatic “house on fire,” come to life with fun and festive detail.
