Bozeman is a popular tourist destination for a reason. It's a small town with tons to do and surrounded by beautiful nature. Here are some of my recommendations for hiking, restaurants, and other things to do as a (former) Bozeman resident.

Restaurants

Bozeman has a great food scene. Downtown is cute and walkable, but don't be afraid to branch out elsewhere.

My favorite place in Bozeman! The cutest little teahouse with a really stunning collection of tea options. Cozy enough to study for hours. They have games that guests can play and local art for sale as well.
Steep Mountain Teahouse

A beautiful bakery in Bozeman. These photos don't do it justice. A lot of really lovey pastries to choose from every day.
Wild Crumb

This is a cozy little Italian restaurant downtown. They have great handmade pasta. I'd consider it on the “fancy” side of restaurant options, but even still tends to be farely casual.

Housed in an old rail station, this restaurant is HUGE. Great food and atmosphere. Right on the edge of downtown so a fun place to end after exploring.

Local pizza spot right across from campus. Good beers, good food, and free wifi. A nice place to study while you drink.

A campus classic! Classic, filling donuts. A small hole in the wall kind of spot that is always busy on the weekends. Last time I checked, they only take cash!

Hikes

These are a handful of great day hikes to spend some time outside in nature.

The hike of choice if you're looking to experience the “M” for Montana State University created on one of the nearby hills. It's 1-3 miles long, depending on whether you prefer a trail that's straight up or one with switch backs. The straight hike is...

One of my favorite trails in Bozeman. There are several places that you can turn back for an out-and-back hike. You can also hike the full 10 miles to get to Mystic Lake.
Sourdough Canyon / Bozeman Creek Trail

This trail is right across from the college M trail and is a great “before work” or “before school” kind of hike. Only about 1-1.5 hrs and beautiful views. An option if you're looking to become a daily trail runner.

There are a variety of hikes in the Hyalite Canyon area ranging from moderate to hard. Most have some sort of lake or waterfall view to look forward to.

A really popular hike in Bozeman. It's about 5 miles long, so makes for a good weekend hike out with friends.

A 6 mile out and back hike that ends with a beautiful view of Lava Lake. The lake tends to be pretty cold year round, but that doesn't stop people from jumping in for a swim.

This is the best museum in Montana. Their permanent exhibits revolve around the paleontology of the area and the dinosaurs discovered here. They also have exhibits focused on Native American history. My favorite growing up was the living history farm...

The cutest little boutique in downtown Bozeman. They have a lot of local makers and a really nice curation of things. A great place to shop for a gift for yourself or someone else.

Just outside of town, Chico Hot Springs has been a staple in Montana forever. You can go just for a day trip, or stay in their hotel or on site cabins to make a weekend out of it. They have two restaurants on site, trails, and a spa as well.

The town of Bozeman is built around the college campus. Luckily, it is truly beautiful. A great campus to go walk around and explore. They also have a great football team if you're looking to catch a game in the fall and regular music performances ye...
