Books that WERE worth the hype
My actual 5 star book recommendations
Loved loved loved loved. Takes some time to get into it but once you're in it you're in it and you can't stop reading
Shantaram (novel)
TW : sexual abuse, but a really really good read. There is no way to explain the way this book makes you sit in silence afterwards.
The Kite Runner
If you like to go into metaphors and meanings of life and lessons this is really really really for you
The Alchemist (novel)
TW : racism and white supremacy Really makes you think about perspective. A really really good read!
Small great things
TW : War Kristin Hannah does it again. Just unbelievable. It takes you back in time into war zones but shows how women show up throughout it all.
The Women: A Novel
The plot twist in this book had me SHOOK. If you like a good thriller - this one definitely needs to be on your to read list!
The Silent Patient
TW : abuse One of my all time favourites. Kristin Hannah is just absolutely phenomenal in the way she immerses the reader in the story.
The Great Alone
Absolutely loved this one! Mixture of easy reading and phenomenal writing with a little bit of breaking your heart in the best way.
The Song of Achilles
Absolutely HEART WRENCHING. but so good. It is so so so so so good. Loved and hated every second of it.
The Glass Castle
My gran gave me this book. It’s the same vibe as “The Alchemist” but a lot easier to follow. It really is worth a read if you like to read a little chapter of something meaningful every once in a while.
Tuesdays with Morrie
Holocaust 'Fiction' : 5 stars
Don’t get me wrong. This was a terrible time in history - but these stories filled my heart with hope.
Mario Escobar just knows how to do it.
Children of the Stars
An incredible story of loss, hope, hatred and preserverence of human beings. An absolute amazing read.
The Tattooist of Auschwitz
Once again. A story of loss and hurt, but ultimately one of self preserverence and hope
Cilka's Journey
A lot of people rave about this book and rightly so.
The Book Thief
There is a very very very special place for Tante Truus in my heart after this one and she will probably (definitely) have a special place in yours too after reading this book
