My husband and I bought our camper in 2022. Since then, we’ve visited campgrounds across NC, VA, TN, and WV. Here are a few of our favorites!
By far, the most scenic of the campgrounds we have visited! Located in Todd, NC. Sites are very well spaced and the owners are very friendly and helpful. Lots to see and do in the area (Boone is close by) and plenty of hiking and outdoor activities. ...
Blue Bear Mountain Camp
One of my absolute favorites! Located in Newland, NC. Full hook-up and extremely well kept. Very family friendly. They were hit very hard by Hurricane Helene, but have built back a lot and have reopened partially.
Mountain River Family Campground
My absolute favorite campground! Located in Rodanthe, NC on the OBX. Extremely well kept with spectacular sound side views! Has a pool and many other activities for kids. Full hook-up with well space lots. Perfect for any size rig.

Moncove Lake State Park
While this campground is temporarily closed for reparations from damage caused by Helene, we enjoyed our stay there a few years ago. Nestled on the banks of the Nolichucky River in Limestone, TN the state park offers a step back in time to the days o...
David Crockett Birthplace State Park
Located in Wilkesboro, NC with electric only (if I remember correctly). We stayed at site 26 on the peninsula, which made for a very picturesque weekend. The lake is nice and has a beach area. They also offer lots of tent camping sites. Plenty to do ...
Bandits Roost, W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir
Fun, family camping in Stuart, VA. While the ground themselves can be crowded, this state park offers lots to do: hiking, swimming on the beach access, fishing, paddle boating or canoeing, or camp with your horses and ride! Park is electric only with...
