Oaxaca is the most diverse region of Mexico with high representation from the indigenous tribes that have been lost in most parts of Mexico. Definitely stop by Cafe De Olla for lunch to try traditional Oaxacan cuisine!

Personally, my favorite pupuseria in all of San Francisco. Panchitas is open 24/7 and is an SF staple. Definitely have dinner here or come here at 3am after a night of partying!
