Sensory Aids
Products that make sensory stimuli more bearable.
Ear defenders to block out as much noise as possible. Especially good in environments with lots of bass, as that can make noise cancelling headphones get weird.
Ear Defenders
My favourite noise cancelling headphones. I’ve used them for years and they got me through high school and college. They have noise cancelling and awareness modes, and bluetooth connection to play music from your phone.
HUAWEI Freebuds Studio
I have the loop engage plus and the loop quiet earplugs. The quiets are good for blocking out as much sound as possible. I love the engages the rest of the time and they have a silicon cover to block out a little extra noise.
Loop Earplugs
Lavender is a really calming scent, so having a portable way to access it is really helpful for me.
Lavender Roll On
Not for everyone, but I like sour sweets and they’re good for grounding.
Toxic Waste Sour Candy
Sunglasses that come with me everywhere. Help me reduce sensory stimuli when outside.
Prescription Sun Glasses
Weighted blanket that stays cool, even in summer. Helps me self regulate and great when I’m struggling to sleep.
OHS Weighted Blanket
I use these straws in every drink. I struggle a lot with coordination so they help me reduce spills and also get sensory stimuli.
Clear Straws
Yoga ball for bouncing and stimming. Helps me stay focused while also being able to move while working.
Yoga Ball
Fidget Toys
Stim toys that I use all the time
My favourite fidget, it’s quiet, discreet and textured. I love the red black and clear one.
Tangle Jr Classic
I love most needoh products, but this one is my favourite. It’s especially good when it’s cold and a little stiffer.
Needoh Nice Cube
Different strengths of therapy putty for stimming. It’s like slime but without the gross textures.
Therapeutic Putty
Communication
Non verbal communication aids
Keyring and pen to communicate more specifically when non verbal. Also fun to doodle on.
Whiteboard Communication Keyring
Communication cards so that I can quickly and effectively communicate when non verbal. My cards are from a shop that’s closed now, but there’s lots of other great creators.

Comfort Items
My personal comfort items
My favourite comfort item. Lucario is my favourite pokemon and he’s small enough to be able to come with me everywhere.
Lucario Plush
My comfort item for years. Fits nicely in my pocket and I use the wheels to stim with.
Hot Wheels
Custom weighted lap pad with a really soft side. Helps me focus when doing work.
Weighted Lap Pad
My favourite hoodie. It’s so soft and has no seams or tags inside.
Sensory Weighted Hoodie
Sensory hoodie with a sound reducing hood and a built in eye mask.
QuietSense Sensory Hoodie
Books
Books by autistic people about the autistic experience
A really sweet book that made me feel seen.
A Different Sort of Normal by Abigail Balfe
A life saver when I was first diagnosed. Helped me come to terms with my diagnosis and the parts of myself I tried to suppress.
What I Mean When I Say I'm Autistic - Annie Kotowicz
A really insightful book that provides exercises to help unmask.
