Every year there are books being turned into films and TV shows and every year I watch the adaptation without having read the book first. Not this year. Here are 14 confirmed 2026 adaptations worth reading before the trailers spoil everything.

I've always been the guy who said 'I don't really read sci-fi.' Then I read The Martian in one sitting. This list is for everyone who thinks the genre isn't for them. These books read like thrillers, feel like real life, and just happen to involve space, parallel universes, or the end of the world. Gateway books, all of them.

My personal sci-fi hall of fame. These are the books I think about long after finishing them - the ones that broke my brain, made me miss my stop, or kept me up until 3am. From absurdist classics to modern mind-benders, this is the list I send people when they ask where to start.
