I by no means am an expert crocheter, but I have made my fair share of hats, stuffed animals, and ornaments to know a thing or two about it. Here is my list of items I think are needed to start your first project!
Crochet hooks. These ones are the average sizes for projects. I like these ones the best because they have the rubber grippy.

Scissors. Mini ones are the best if you have to get close to your project or cut yarn inside your project without wrecking anything.

Ball Point Pins will help hold arms or legs on a crocheted stuffed animal. They are also good for figuring out eye placement without actually putting the eyes in.

Lock Ring Markers will be your best friend. They help make sure you don’t lose your place when starting a new round. They also are helpful when you need to change colours in the same spot.

Tape Measures are needed if you are making hats, sweaters, etc that way you know exactly how big or small something will fit

A yarn bowl is not needed, but I do recommend it. It makes crocheting much easier, rather than you having to stop and unwind your yarn the bowl does it for you.

Depending on what you decide to make, it is always a good idea to have a Pom Pom maker on hand!

Chenille needles are needed to “weave in the ends” of your yarn/ projects. You can also use them to sew arms, legs or pom poms onto your projects.

Obviously in order to crochet anything you need yarn! This yarn is perfect for hats, blankets and even amigurumi!

Even though it’s not needed, a crocheting book is always good to have. I personally use YouTube to find patterns and answer questions I might have.

Some projects you may need thread to sew things on, like a mouth, eyelashes or patterns!
Rainbow Craft Cord by Loops & Threads™, 36ct. - Michaels
Some patterns you will need to glue things onto your projects. I personally like using a glue gun just because it dries faster and you don’t have to wait for it like craft glue

Make sure you have something, like a bag, to put everything you will need for one project into one spot. There’s nothing worse than getting ready to crochet and forgetting something important!
