I'm a runner who moved to Seattle about two years ago. In 2024, I ran 1500 miles from Seattle to Jasper, Alberta and back, and then I ran 1000 from the coast of Tanzania to the top of Kilimanjaro to East Africa's only public children's hopsital in El...irun.earth. City Parks (Unpaved)

This is my go-to running park in Seattle. There's a 4.5 mile loop with 485 ft of elevation that takes you down to the beach and also a good 2.8 mile loop. Both unpaved and hilly, good for trail running training

There's a 3.6 mile loop here with 557 feet of elevation, great for trail running training. Be careful if you bike there, mine got stolen once.

There's a 3ish mile loop in the arboretum and you can link together a 5ish mile run if you go under the 520 overpass and loop around UW to the Union Bay natural area. Mostly excellent running, maybe 60-80% unpaved depending on the paths you take

This might be the most classic Seattle run. It's fun to see all ages and types of people running here. Flat 3 mile loop
Green Lake

Right next to Green Lake and hilly. You can easily find a 1-1.5 mile loop in here. I can recommend doing a couple hilly loops here and then rewarding yourself with a flat run in greenlake

It's a little difficult to put a run together here, but worth trying because it's beautiful. The only real way to get a workout is to do hill work. You can either do some laps running up the hill or walking up the stairs with the old folks and then r...

This is a 2.7 mile stretch on the waterfront. Definitely worth doing once but it hasn't stuck for me as a staple run

The Burke is pretty flat and all paved. I'm usually on it with a bike rather than running. Good way to run on flats, which is kind of hard to find in Seattle
Burke-Gilman Trail

Trail Running

The trail running around Seattle pretty endless. I actually haven't explored all of it because I usually don't have the time to spend an hour+ commuting to the trail and back. This is just the tip of the iceberg. My go-to is Tiger Mountain, but mostl...

If you have a vehicle and like trail running, it's worth driving out to Tiger Mountain. It's easy to put together a route with over 2000ft of elevation. This is the closest trail running to Seattle
Tiger Mountain

In general, Cougar Mountain is more hilly and rolling than Tiger Mountain which has steep climbs. Great trail running a little further from Seattle than Tiger

Mt Si is straight up. Not as much running because you're just going up and coming back down. A little further than Tiger and Cougar but so beautiful
