When I lived in London, I loved exploring independent bookshops on the weekends and sussing out which was my favourite. I'd dedicate a day to exploring a new area, but make sure there were a few bookshops to check out while I was there too!
My favourite of all! This is a barge on the water that you can go inside to browse books, or also take a look at the second hand options on the outside.
Word on the Water
A very famous London bookstore. I love the mezzanine area towards the back.
Daunt Books
Shoreditch is one of my favourite areas in London, and this is a small but great bookstore.
Brick Lane Bookshop
My favourite bookstore in Central London. I could never walk past here, plus with the carpet and stairways, it always felt so cosy to browse in here on a Winter's day.
Hatchards
Very famous and often very crowded, but always worth popping into!
The Notting Hill Bookshop
A great bookstore with many new items and staff picks.
London Review Bookshop
A great LGBTQIA+ friendly bookstore with a wide collection.
Gay's The Word
A cute area of London to spend a Sunday in, and has this great bookstore with reduced carts out the front.
Primrose Hill Books
A shop solely dedicated to cookbooks - so niche but so cool!
Books for Cooks
A modern/edgy bookstore in Shoreditch. A unique collection, but you'll find something interesting for sure!
Libreria
Another great LGBTQIA+ friendly bookstore in London.
The Common Press Bookshop
If you fancy reading your book with a glass of wine, look no further than BookBar!
BookBar: Bookshop and Wine Bar
If you find yourself in Angel (they have a lovely Breakfast Club here) then popping into Upper Street Bookshop is a must!
