The first time I came to Milan I thought the same; but living here has shown me that this place is much more than the Duomo.
This is my curated list of places worth seeing, feeling, and experiencing — from art and design to cafés, streets, and hidden...

Places where I love to get coffee
A rare moment of stillness by the Duomo. Classic Milanese atmosphere, attentive service, and the feeling of being slightly removed from the rush outside.
Giacomo Caffè Letterario zona Duomo

Every last Sunday of the month you can find this cute antique market. I recommend getting there early to avoid the multitude. Also be careful with tourist-prices. But all in all it’s a great place for treasure hunting.
Antique flea market Milan - Mercatone dell'Antiquariato sul Naviglio Grande
My favorite headspace walks:
Some of Milan's most interesting beauty lives far from the monuments. Wide streets, old factories, concrete textures, quiet corners, and that unmistakable industrial calm – a side of the city that feels raw, functional, and deeply authentic.
This is Milan without decoration: slower, tactile and unexpectedly poetic.
Milan's Industrial Streets
Only 15 minutes away from Milan in train you can find this beautiful town full of history and charm. Very clean and walkable, Monza has its arms wide open for you; just don’t order coffee to go 😅.
Comune di Monza
A place Milan uses, not just visits.
This beautiful park in Porta Venezia serves as a green passageway for those going to work, or as a space to do your daily run. Inside you will find a couple of caffès and museums. Inside my opinion it is the best...
Giardino Indro Montanelli
A picnic? you just need a blanket and a panino. An ice-cream? There's Venchi nearby.
BAM - Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano
Restaurants that are actually good
Fresh pasta, comforting flavors, attentive service, and the light of Arco della Pace right in front of you. One of those places where food, atmosphere, and the city come together effortlessly.
Via Pasteria: Home
Just look at the reviews in Google, I’m not the only one who loves this place 🤍
Great place to have lunch or a coffee right by the center of the city. The food is delicious, the staff super friendly and the tiramisu is the best I’ve ever tried 👌🏻
A little out of the center, but totally worthy if you're staying near Villapizzone.
Il Forno del Sud
My favorite museums
This is where I go when I want to reconnect with why I care about design. Not just objects or exhibitions, but ideas about how we live: calm, thoughtful, and deeply Milanese. Don't skip the cafeteria 🤎.
Triennale Milano
A must in Milan. Go slowly, look closely, and let the rooms do the talking. You can enter for free the last Sunday of the month, but if you are planing to come any other day, I leave here a link to a very cool tour that gives a great experience.
Pinacoteca di Brera
