I have been writing ever since I was a small child! Here’s a collection of various websites/softwares that have helped me in my journey.

I use Ellipsus now because I like the folder organization and the vibe. However, it’s still a new website so it’s missing some features that are in other websites and the export/sharing can be done better. Also they have a no AI policy!
Ellipsus
Great for school (totally not cause I’m required to use it). Definitely the most advanced and can be very comfortable for some people.
Word
Have never used but heard MANY good things about
Scrivener
I personally don’t like writing in it cause the text is kinda big but it’s a super good choice for epub publishing and I like copy pasting and then exporting to see what my story would look like.
Reedsy
The OG. I’ve heard stuff about giving information to AI recently, so be wary of that. Google Docs is super customizable and there are so many tutorials out there for formatting too! It also has a great font collection.
Google Docs

On finding the right words to use
I love this website so muchhh. It gives great synonyms and when writing poems can help with rhymes.
WordHippo
Great for showing and not telling various feelings.
Emotion Thesaurus
Also good for generating names, just keep switching between languages to find a cool sounding word
Google Translate
Amazing for synonyms and not very well known.
KathySteinemann.com
World building!
Don’t spend too long here but it’s super fun :)
Simple to use, free, map generator!
Watabou's Procgen Arcana
Professional looking world map generator
Azgaar's Fantasy Map Generator
This is *personally* my favorite name generator, but you do you!
donjon; Fantasy Name Generator
Kinda random but I use it for character sheets. I’ve seen some super aesthetic ones in Google Docs as well, but I prefer page method in Procreate.
Procreate
You can make book boards or boards for specific characters.

Motivation and Getting the Work Done
Yay!
Actually bought the subscription from this app (which is super expensive lol but the free version works awesome too!) but it’s a great app to use different prompts and read other works and interact with them.
Daily Prompt
Nice fantasy music to fit the vibe
Tabletop Audio
Honestly, any timer would do, but this is just one that I use! Pomodoro timers are incredibly helpful for writing.
Flocus
Online Publishing (FREE)
[disclaimer: I don’t personally publish on these websites much so my experience is limited]
I don’t recommend using this if you don’t write romance but this is accessible to all ages!
Wattpad
The community is awesome! This is great for those that like to write blogs — not so much books.
Substack
This website is known more for webcomics, but they have a webnovel section too!
Tapas
This website is more catered towards East Asian media(?) if you’re into that type of writing/story.
