Here are the supplies I use for ages 4 - 12 to get them engaged in the process of puppet building. I like to show them simple designs that they can add their own ideas to. No hot glue required!
You can do ANYTHING with a pipe cleaner
Craft Pipe Cleaners…
Craft foam is easy to cut, but has more structure than construction paper.
EVA Foam Sheets 9x12 Inch, 15 Pack, 2mm
For younger kids (ages 4-6) who might have a hard time cutting shapes, these pre-cut foam pieces are great for building!
Self Adhesive Foam Shapes, Multicolored
Who doesn't love a sparkly gem?!
407pcs Self Adhesive Gem Stickers for Kids
Paper cups are perfect for building. They provide a solid structure but are pretty easy to cut or poke holes in.
60 Disposable Paper Cups for Parties (6 Colors)
I adore using crepe paper to add color to a puppet. Less mess than painting, and kids often need to work together to glue the crepe paper onto their projects. Buy this with some Elmers glue
12 Rolls Crepe Paper Streamers - 12 Colors
When you want to create fancier stick puppets, use these instead of popsicle sticks
25PCS 1/4 x 12 Inch Wooden Dowel Rods
Can't go wrong with Elmer's! Leave the hot glue to older kids (like me)
Elmer's Disappearing Purple Glue Sticks, 31
When I need glue with a little more oomph, this is my go-to. Since I do a lot of whole class project, I avoid hot glue
