items I’m sharing my thoughts on The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling follows a young wizard's journey at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Explore the complete seven-book chronological reading list below.
At first glance, the writing is simple and childish, and there are plenty of technical mistakes in the story, but the messaging, plot, and whimsy are all top notch!
The story follows the point of view of Harry Potter, a young wizard, during his firs...
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter Series #1)
In general, the Harry Potter books are written in a very simple manner, easy for young readers to digest. The wizarding world is messy, but that’s part of its charm. The second book follows the first in a clever way; the plot of book two logically fo...
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter Series #2)
I’ve always loved this book, primarily because it introduces the characters of Remus Lupin and Sirius Black, but also because it’s when Harry really starts coming into his own against Voldemort. Sure, he’s felt the ideals of good vs evil, but never b...
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter Series #3)
I think I might change which Harry Potter book is my favourite. I forgot how in-depth and exciting this book is. So many new characters as Harry discovers the wider wizarding world, and a lot more of Voldemort after he was nearly non-existent in the ...
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter Series #4)
This book is my least favourite in the series for a few reasons. It’s the longest, and while I love description as much as the next person, this one felt stuffed with unnecessary things. Secondly, Harry is so angry and moody throughout this whole thi...
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter Series #5)
Each of the Harry Potter books have had an aspect of mystery so far, but the fifth one really fell behind on that. I’m glad that book six brings us back to the roots with the mystery of what Malfoy is up to, what mission Snape is helping him with, an...
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter Series #6)
With Dumbledore dead, Harry resolves to finish the quest bestowed upon him: the hunt down and destroy all of Voldemort’s Horcruxes. Ron and Hermione join him as they seek to avoid Death Eaters and finally defeat Voldemort.
Some people prefer the end...
